The United States Air Force (USAF) is a branch of the United States Armed Forces and one of the largest in the world. The USAF was founded on August 29, 1947 as the Air Force Reserve. It is composed of more than 124,000 active duty members and 1,500 reserve component members. The USAF provides air services throughout North America, Europe and Asia. Its stated mission is to "support national security by providingairpower for operations in support of nuclear deterrence, global peace and stability, Operation Neptune's Spear against Iraq in 2003,[and] Operation Enduring Freedom".[1]
In 1948 when General Curtis LeMay became Chief of Staff of the USAF he created an organization called Strategic Air Command (SAC). SAC was charged with developing strategic forces capable of carrying out offensive attacks on targets within Continental Europe or Japan. In May 1952 SAC was renamed US Atomic Energy Commission which increased its focus to atomic bombing capabilities. On July 15th 1953 President Eisenhower signed Executive Order 12644 which created military wings within the USAF - these were known as Tactical Air Forces (TAF) and Aerospace Defense Command (ADC). TAF would provide air support for ground forces while ADC would provide air defense for American cities.[2]
On October 25th 1958 President Dwight D. Eisenhower placed restrictions on daylight flying by limiting flights over rural areas to no more than 500 feet AGL from airports near populous centers such as New York City or Washington D.C.. This restriction applied only to bombers flown at night but not fighter jets like Lockheed Martin F-4 Phantom IIs that could fly during daytime hours without being restricted by this rule. This change in policy changed many aspects about USAF aviation including how aircraft were stored and flew; it also led directly to famous incidents such as the Wright brothers' first powered flight[3][4].
Beginning on September 14th 1959 TAF took off from Vandenberg AFB with Twelfth Street Numbered Airspace Control Facility Director Lt Col John Vickers leading them into what became known as The Golden Age Of Fighter Aviation[5]. Somerset, Kentucky is a small town in the U.S. state of Kentucky and is the county seat of Somerset County. The population was 3,814 at the 2010 census. The name "Somerset" comes from a Norman Conquest settlement in 1066 which located on the southeast corner of what is now Somerset County and Pulaski County. The town was founded by James Robertson in 1820 as a result of his purchase of 4,000 acres (1,600 km2) of land from John Sevier for $1 per acre. He named it after his birthplace in Scotland—Aberdeen—where he had been born in 1768. Robertson's original store and post office were located on Main Street between Broadway and Market streets; they remain extant today as part of the Somerset Historical Museum complex on Broad Street across from the courthouse. He also built a sawmill, gristmill, creamery and blacksmith shop on Wilson Road northeast of present-day Somerset High School; these structures still stand today as part of the museum complex. In 1830, Robertson formed a company with four other men to build a road through central Kentucky to Louisville; this road became known as Roberts' Road after him. In 1827, Robertson donated 795 acres (280 km2) along Roberts' Road to become what is now eastern point unincorporated community called Mount Pleasant thankyou for its donation by then-Governor Andrew Johnson during his visit to that area just prior to taking office as president in November 1828. On July 15, 1830, Samuel Morse sent an electric Telegraph cable overRoberts'Road linking Baltimore with Washington D C.; this event marks the first time that humans communicated using electrical signals over distance instead of words or pictures
Airforce gift history begins with the creation of the United States Air Force in 1947. The USAF was mandated by Congress to provide air defense for the country and support its military efforts. One of the first gifts the USAF received from America’s citizens was a small plane, called an airplane, which was donated to them by Mr. Charles Lindbergh. From that day forward, American citizens have offered their services and generosity to their fellow service members through donations of planes and other equipment. Today, there are over 350,000 active duty USAF members and more than 20,000 cadets in aerial training schools across the nation. In addition to providing air defense for our country, Air Force units also conduct various missions such as humanitarian assistance, peacekeeping operations, counter-piracy activity and more. Throughout its history, the USAF has made a significant impact on society both inside and outside of America itself.

Somerset, Kentucky is a small town in the state of Kentucky, located in the eastern part of the state. The population was 6,088 at the 2010 census. Somerset is one of two towns in central Kentucky that are still inhabited as of 2019. The other town is Paducah. The first settlements in what is now Somerset were made by fur traders and missionaries who came to this area during the 18th century. In 1785, John Filson founded a trading post near present-day Somerset on the Cumberland River. By 1800, there were over twenty small settlements in and around Somerset. There was also a large cotton plantation near present-day Paducah which induced many settlers to move to what is now Somerset between 1825 and 1830. In 1819, General Anthony Wayne fought against General Andrew Jackson at Horseshoe Bend on the Ohio River. Many men from Somerset joined General Wayne's army after learning about his victory and decided to stay in Kentucky rather than return home because they thought their land would be next! The Battle of Perryville was also fought near present-day Paducah on October 22nd, 1819 which helped convince many more people to come to Somerset and start a new life here! When American independence was declared in 1776, much effort was put into finding colonists willing to leave for America instead of returning home where their families could possible be massacred or worse situation awaited them should they defect! When it became clear that most people wanted nothing to do with leaving their homes behind for an unknown future (and possibly war), several hundred men from Somersett gathered together on November 16theenth, 1787 organized themselves into a company called "The United Patriots." This group soon became known as "The Sons of Liberty" because they sought freedom from British rule while living under its jurisdiction! With so many people looking towards Independence Day as an opportunity for celebration and liberation from British rule (instead of bowing down), some prospered while others did not fare so well! A number of those who had hoped for independence but didn't quite make it through ended up bitter enemies of George Washington due to various reasons such as financial disagreements or political differences with him leading up until his death in 1799! But even though some members may have been disappointed with how things turned out...it's safe to say that everyone involved had something contribute positively towards Lexington County becoming one country under one flag on July 4th,1782!!!
