Somerset, Kentucky is a small town in the southwestern corner of Kentucky. The population was 9,726 at the 2010 census. Somerset is located on the Cumberland River and is part of the Greenville–Anderson–Muncie metropolitan area. It is also within the Lexington-Fayette-Louisville Combined Statistical Area. The city was founded by James Fenton in 1811 as a trading post on the same site as present day Somerset. In 1798, General John Forbes built Fort Pitt on what is now known as Fitzpatrick Road in order to protect British settlers from French forces raiding through this area. It was not until after American independence that Britain granted land in this area to Americans, and it became known as New Kent County. In 1821, when Colonel James Moncrief purchased 1/2 acre (0.16 km²) of land from Colonel Isaac Chauncey for $500, he named it Somerset because of its location on the Cumberland River between Greenville and Anderson counties. At first there were only about 10 people living in this small community which consisted of just a few houses and a store on Main Street near wherepresent day US 21 crosses the river. However, over time more people began moving into Somerset from other parts of Kentucky and even further away including Tennessee, Virginia and Georgia (then part of America). By 1830 there were over 100 residents living in Somerset with many businesses such as grocery stores, blacksmiths, cooperatives and churches established along Main Street which still exists today despite changes over time such as being renamed US 21 to I-64 etc.. As more settlers arrived they started building new homes which gradually replaced those destroyed by fire or weather damage over time including one house built by Samuel Mays in 1849 which still stands today next to present day US 21 across from Embarrasser's Baptist Church. At some point around 1830 local farmers decided they would rather grow crops than live close to timber so they developeda system where each family got 2 acres (1 km²)of ground overlooking a stream or river except for one family who received 3 acres (1 km²). This system continued until about 1900 when electricity became available for farm families so they could start using machines instead of having to carry tools around all the time

However, the first deployments were made to North Africa and Europe in order to fight in World War II. In 1978, The United States Air Force Foundation gave away a number of planes including an F-4 Phantom II fighter jet and two C-130 Hercules transport planes. These planes are currently being used by both RAF Williamstown squadron in England and USAAF Mitchell squadron in Arizona as well as USMC base Elmendorf AFB Alaska. In 1984, The John F Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum donated a Lockheed P-2 Neptune submarine tender to be used as a research vessel for submarines under development by NASA. This ship is currently docked at Spanish port Valencia Naval Base Spain providing research on submarines underway around the world! In 1992, The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) gifted four Grumman AO-1 Super Falcons multirole aircrafts to be used by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) during their space exploration program initiatives such as flying missions into orbit! These planes are currently stored at JPL’s California Research Facility located near Pasadena! Finally, in 1997 The Ford Motor Company sent out a shipment of gifts consisting of cars models like Lincoln Continental MKII sedans & convertibles along with parts for racesource cars like 428ci V8 engines etc.. These gifts were delivered through conduits set up throughout America so that friends or family could come visit during racing weekends across America!

Somerset, Kentucky is located in the Appalachian Mountains and has a rich history dating back to when it was first settled by man. The area has been known for its wine grape production and cheese since prehistoric times. The area was first populated by Native Americans and was part of the Shawnee Nation until 1763 when the Treaty of Paris ended the Seven Years' War. Afterward, Somerset became part of Virginia until 1861 when it became a state within Kentucky. Early settlers in Somerset were farmers and their families worked together on farms that grew corn, beans, and other crops. By 1820, however, some people had started to build homes in what is now Somerset. These early settlers were responsible for developing many aspects of today's town including: a school system; churches; businesses; and a local water supply. In 1825, one of these early settlers named John Brown patented land which included present-day Somerset. This land would later become known as Brownstown Heights after Colonel John Brown who founded it in 1827. From this point forward, development in Somerset proceeded slowly but steadily with small villages gradually becoming larger towns over time. By 1860, there were over 100 residents living in present-day Somerset with most residents working on farms or shoping around town for goods they could sell at local markets or trade with other settlements nearby. In 1870, another important event took place when an electric streetlight was installed in central Somersett along with new buildings such as a courthouse and jail which served as community centers during this time period
Somerset County, Kentucky was created on November 1, 1871 from parts of Floyd and Putnam counties. The county is named for the town of Somerset in York County, Pennsylvania. It has a population of 509 as of the 2010 census.
