Smallbatch coffee history in Shelbyville, Kentucky dates back to the early 1800s. The first small-scale coffee roasters in this town were James and Johnnie Caldwell, who started up the Caldwell Coffee Roasters in 1819. The business became successful and continued to operate until around 1930. In 1928, Donny Dodd opened the Dodd Coffee & Tea Co., which was the first commercially successful small-scale coffee shop in Shelbyville. This business remained open until it closed in 1971. Around that time, many of the original small-scale coffee roasters also folded or moved away from town altogether. However, a few continue to operates today – including Blue Bottle Coffee and Caffe Nero – all of whom are located within a few blocks of each other on Main Street.
Shelbyville is a town in Hardin County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 2,569 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Hardin County. Shelbyville is located on the southern edge of the Cumberland Plateau and is bordered by Hazard to the east and north, Bluegrass to the west and south, and Price to the southwest. The first European settlers in Shelbyville were French traders who arrived in 1795. The town's name comes from General James Shelby who fought against Native Americans during the American Revolutionary War. The town was founded on December 12, 1810 by Captain John Silliman with a group of Methodist missionaries who came from Greensboro, North Carolina. On November 15, 1811, General George Rogers Clark made an unsuccessful raid into Tennessee while under cover of darkness into what was then Preble County (now Hardin County) looking for forces he could use against Chief Joseph (called "the British Killer") when he attacked a small nearby community called Forks of Arkansas on October 29th that year. In 1815–1816, Colonel John Muhlenberg built Fort Muhlenberg near present-day downtown Shelbyville in order to control access to Indian Territory through which traffic passed between Kentucky and Illinois during this time period. As a result of this activity as well as other military campaigns throughout pre-war America led by Major General Andrew Jackson such as Battle of Horseshoe Bend at Austin’s Ford on September 16th – 21st 1824 or Battle of New Orleans on January 8th - 10th 1800), many people thought that Knox County would eventually become completely independent from Hardin County since Knox had more political clout at this time due largely to its location within easy reach of major markets like Nashville One important aspect that helped make Shelbyville one of America's most prosperous towns during its early years was its role as a transportation hub for goods arriving via riverboats or stagecoaches from western Kentucky and eastern Tennessee In addition to being home to both the first post office in Hardin County (established on May 6th 1830) and one of two banks operating in what became known as “the Old World” due primarily to its prominence within banking circles nationally – initially chartered by Virginia banker Nicholas Moore – it also saw rapid growth thanks largely to numerous wagon trade routes running northwest through regions including Bucyrus Heights (near present day Lebanon), Caldwell (present day Florence), Parisburg (present day Hillsboro), Glasgow Junction (near present day Glasgow) before turning northeast towards Lexington over Willis Mountain until reaching Cincinnati along main route now known as I-75/I-465/US 24 These valuable economic opportunities not only created new jobs but also gave rise to several residential neighborhoods such as Highlandtown which straddles today's downtown area betweenPrice Boulevard eastward extending beyond Main Street while Juliaown extends southeast along Sycamore Avenue past current Fourth Ward Elementary School all across what would later become Madison Township near future Interstate 65/Ulysses S Grant National Historic Site where much recent architecture takes place including Butler Homes redevelopment project underway currently

At that time, farmers didn't have enough reliable transportation to bring their crops to market so they had to grow them themselves. As a result, the quality of the beans were higher and there was less variability in flavor between batches. Over time, small batch coffee became popular all over the world because it produces better-quality beans at a fraction of the cost of largebatch coffee. In fact, some people say that small batch coffee tastes better because it's closer to how humans evolved to taste food - with more complexity and nuance than largebatch coffees can offer.

Shelbyville was founded in 1814 by the Rev. Dr. John Shelby and his wife, Martha. The town was named for the Shelby family of Kentucky who had holdings in the area before it was granted to the United States. The first post office was established in1815 and remained in operation until 1847. In 1819, General James K. Polk sent a military expedition into what is now eastern Tennessee to suppress Native American hostilities and establish control over that region. When he returned home, he found that much of Tennessee had been taken over by Indian tribes and that Kentucky was being overrun by these same Indians with impunity. After doing some research on the matter, General Polk discovered that there were no Native Americans living in what is now eastern Tennessee except those who occupied land grants given to them by English colonists as part of their Indian Treaties of 1776-1783. He accordingly ordered General Andrew Jackson to march his army through Cherokee Nation territory into northern Kentucky and pursue these Indians while he built an army to drive them out of this territory permanently. This campaign known as the First Cherokee War resulted in significant losses for both sides but also revealed a new level of hostility between these two groups which would only become increasingly evident during subsequent wars fought between Britain and America over this issue (see: The American Revolution: Causes & Consequences). As a result, Governor Isaac Brock issued a proclamation proclamating Shelbyville as the capital of sections 14-16-20 east of Louisville due to its potential importance as a center for commerce and trade within this newly formed country (see: History timeline: Shelbyville, KY - 1840s-2010s). In 1848, when Jefferson Davis became president of America after winning the Ulysses S Grant election, he decided that southern states should secede from America if they did not own all of their free speech rights like other countries such as Canada or Mexico which they considered “foreign” entities under our Constitution (See: The American Revolution – Causes & Consequences). Therefore, on April 12th Missouri secessionists called for a meeting at Harrodsburg where delegates from all 35 southern states were going to discuss how best to secede from America without getting permission from Congress which would have opened up war with Great Britain (See: Confederate States Of America – Declaration Of Independence). Unfortunately for Davis’s planters south of Mason Dixon Line, many wanted nothing more thanto remain connected with their brethren across the pond even though they could not share in every benefit enjoyed by citizens within our country……………………………………….. After months long negotiations conducted inside/outsideof Harrodsburg University resulting in no progress being made towards forming an Confederacy separate from Great Britain (& other countries we considered “foreign”), on July 11th 1861 Confederate Genl Willie J Moore announced at Beargrass plantation outside Knoxville that secession had commenced effective immediately citing Articles 1&2 US Constitution !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
