Shelbyville is a town in Pike County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 1,827 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Pike County and the only incorporated town in Pike County. The first people to live here were the Shawnees who populated this area around 1790. They moved west in search of land that would offer them better hunting and fishing opportunities than what they found east of the Allegheny Mountains. In 1810, when a group of British officers under Major General Andrew Jackson invaded Kentucky looking for Unionists who had sided with Napoleon during his war against Great Britain, they discovered this area and decided to settle it as part of Jackson's army. The original settlers were from eastern England and brought their livestock, crops, tools, and other items with them when they arrived. In 1819-20, several families from Louisville immigrated to Shelbyville to start a new life after experiencing harsh winters there on their way home from fighting in the War of 1812. These newcomers had nothing but good things to say about their new home before moving out again within a few years due to lack of farmland or business opportunities available closer to Louisville. By 1830, however, most of these early settlers had died off or migrated away because there wasn't enough food available hereabouts for them or because gold was discovered on nearby hillsides. A group of men led by John Searles founded Searles & Sons lumberyard in 1839 which became one of the biggest lumberyards in America thanks largely to its location close by while also producing wood used for furniture and other industrial products until 1971 when it closed down due to economic conditions Next door another group formed around 1840 called Cushman & Wakefield which later became known as Searles Rubber Company (later renamed KPD International)due primarily to its ownership by Samuel Hetherington Searles Sr., one time mayor (1892-1900)of Shelbyville before he moved away for health reasons However even with all these businesses coming into Shelbyville during those decades there was still little opportunity for residents so many went backpacking or traveling into surrounding counties looking for work during those lean times This密密密密密密密就是从事人民史诗的同志们一起来写信

Shelbyville is a small town in eastern Kentucky, located on the border of Lawrence County and Shelby County. The population was 6,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lexington metropolitan area. The first settlers in what is now Shelbyville were white Protestants who came from Virginia in 1780 to start a new colony. They named their new community after General James Shelby, an officer in the American Revolution and one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. The original town site was near present-day Mount Lebanon Square on the unincorporated border between Lawrence and Shelby Counties. In 1812, Colonel John Pemberton founded Pike's Ferry Landing on the confluence of two rivers (the Big Sandy and Little Sandy) northeast of present-day Shelbyville. This landing served as a stopover for travelers traveling along Interstate 65 from Louisville to Nashville or vice versa. Development around Pike's Ferry Landing began shortly thereafter; by 1814, some 200 homes had been erected along what is today First Street nearpresent-day Mount Lebanon Square. By 1825, much of downtown had been built up around this nucleus with public buildings such as a courthouse and jail located onosite sides of Market Street east of Second Avenue south of Schoolhouse Road (now First Avenue). A year later, when Kentucky became a state, Shelbyville became its capital city under Governor Christopher Gist。In 1827–28, during construction on Old State Capitol Building (), various citizens donated land including what is now Fourth Street between Main and Centre Streets for use as an open square where people could picnic or hold meetings without fear that they would spoiligious private property rights within their own townsite…. In 1830–31 Commissioners Nicholas & David Baird surveyed Lots 1-3(of 5) comprising Nineteenth Block bounded by Third Ave., Fourth St., Fifth St., Lot 4 north thereof (later added to current lot), Seventh St…and Eighth Ave southeast thereof for future erection into dwellings for white mechanics dwelling therein….. The early history of Shelbyville, Kentucky is unknown. However, it is believed that the town was founded by James Shelby in 1792. The first post office in Shelbyville was established in 1806. The town experienced a rapid growth during the 1800s, and by 1830 it had a population of over 1,000 people. In 1836, General Andrew Jackson appointed John Cavanaugh as Sheriff of Shelby County. This appointment helped to spur therowth of the town and increase its population again by 100%. By 1840, Shelbyville boasted a total population of 2,500 people.During the American Civil War (1861-1865), some members of the community sided with Confederate forces while others supported Union troops. Despite this divided allegiance, many stores and homes were burned down during the war effort.Throughout most of his life, Andrew Jackson was an ardent supporter of slavery and opposed universal suffrage for black Americans. however he did make some incremental progress towards emancipating slaves during his presidency
