Radcliff is a small town in Jefferson County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 1,846 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Louisville metropolitan area. Radcliff was founded in 1873 by Captain James A. Robertson and his wife, Sarah Jane. The first post office was established in 1874. The town grew around the Radcliffe cotton gin and other nearby mills until it became an agricultural center with large acreage of cotton and hay crops during the late 19th century. However, during World War II, Radcliff's economy shifted to munitions production as its residents produced weapons for the war effort. Afterward, the town declined as rapid population growth led to limited employment opportunities and a lack of development outside of tourism and shopping areas near downtown Radcliff. In recent years, however, efforts have been made to revive the community with various initiatives such as some new housing developments and support for local businesses which have seen increased activity within the community since then.

Radcliff is a town in Pike County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 2,811 at the 2010 census. Radcliff is part of the Louisville Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers to what is now Radcliff were George and Martha Hardin who arrived in 1820. They married into a family of early settlers and named their settlement after their father-in-law's brother, Richard Radcliffe who had died in 1819. The Hardins also founded the first school in the community which was built on the site of what is now the old post office. In 1830, John Hardin donated land to build a courthouse and jail which served as both local government buildings until 1907 when it was replaced by the current county courthouse. In 1827, Elijah Hicks organized a church in Radcliff and soon after became known as "the preacher of Preacherstown." This small town quickly grew with its own schools (two were established before 1870), churches (one by Elijah Hicks himself), businesses (a millinery shop later became an opera house), and residents who made their homes around two large reservoirs that supplied water for all these activities: Big Sandy River north of town and Little Sandy River east of town. By 1860, there were over 100 people living in Radcliff with no fewer than six schools, three churches, four businesses, one millinery shop/opera house, and thirty-four residences including twenty-six slaves held by African Americans working on farms within easy reach of both riverside communities. As this small village continued to grow larger through natural Resources development like coalmining near present day Hazardville and logging along both banks of Big Sandy River - more people moved into this fledgling community as new opportunities opened up for them outside the simple confines of subsistence farming life. With railroads connecting Louisville to Chicago via Nashville then Cincinnati - industries hubs everywhere - growing numbers began moving out westward looking for opportunity while others chose to stay put due to social conservatism within society at that time towards accepting nonwhite immigrants into polite society where many were considered lower class or simply criminal elements waiting to benefit from whatever opportunities might come available during this period when Jim Crow laws still prevailed across much southern America albeit slowly easing off since Reconstruction era ended fifty years earlier during World War II when most northern states had abolished such barbaric measures then followed various political reforms leading directly following civil rights movement culminating during Lyndon B Johnson's presidency formerly called "The Great Society" starting right here in Kentucky becoming nationally accepted beginning right here back home finally achieving some legitimacy throughout much restofus thanks largely to good work done locally by men & women organizations led primarily by women actually taste & look alike yetiken
