Mayfield is a small town in Floyd County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Bowling Green metropolitan area. The first military gift to Mayfield was a rifle from General Andrew J. Butler on October 11, 1827. After the war ended, Mayfield's first post office opened on November 15th with two rifles and one shotgun as the only items available for purchase. On December 10th of that year, Captain John Kline received a fowling piece from General Butler for his service in eastern Kentucky during the War of 1812. On March 14th of 1828 when General Robert Ewing took command of Union Army forces in western Kentucky following the Battle of Perryville Creek, he ordered Captain John Kline to provide him with five shotguns and fifty rounds each for use in his army forces stationed at Lebanon Station (now Mayfield).
Mayfield, Kentucky is a small town in Pike County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 1,890 at the 2010 census. It is the namesake of Mayfield Township and also home to the Mayfield-Leesburg Agricultural Museum. The first settlement in what is now Mayfield was made around 1800 by David Lee and others from Virginia. A post office called Lexington was established in 1824, and remained open until 1865. The townsite was named for General James C.Mayfield, who helped lead Union troops through the area during the American Civil War. He had been born in nearby Jeffersonville, Indiana on December 12th, 1807. The early settlers were mostly farmers who grew corn and other vegetables as their primary product. However, as time passed they began to build cotton plantations that produced large quantities of this profitable crop. In 1830 James Kinsley founded a mill on the river near present day Mayfield; this became one of the largest centers of cotton production in Kentucky before it closed its doors in 1902 due to competition from neighboring states'. Some residents still live within close proximity of these facilities today; however, most people now reside within miles of major metropolitan areas such as Louisville or Nashville respectively. In 1876 Mayfields saw its first election when voters approved a new form of government which replaced an earlier unicameral system with a two-member board of commissioners which would be elected at-large and then apportioned among districts according to population size and wealth (i.e., those with more than $1 million). This change came about as a result of financial troubles plaguing many small villages across Appalachia during Reconstruction following the American Civil War). A courthouse was built on Main Street in 1870 by Jno Ewing after plans were drawn up by architect Samuel Weare for what would become known as "the most beautiful courthouse west of the Alleghenies". When completed it cost $566 ($ today) but served as both court house and jail until 1907 when it burned down due to fire caused by lightningenergized equipment used inside! After years spent being repaired/rebuilt various times over several decades various additions were made including: four wings added in 1906 (designed by Jno Ewing himself), an addition designed by Ebenezer Howard that features three story brackets on each side supporting wide pews 95” high each faced with white marble capitals (pictured right), additional classrooms/entertainment spaces added between 1928-1929 (pictured left), a second tower added 1925 (listed on National Register prior to demolition) - all while still serving primarily as courtroom/jail facility! Eventually all but one wing were destroyed during World War II when DD's built several thousand tanks along US Route 460 just outside town limits! All considered this one significant event which led directly to decline & eventual abandonment (& destruction!) Of course not everyone remembers or agrees w/this detracting factor - some folks maintain that without those big construction projects nothing could have happened!! Today there are very few residents remaining within close proximity (< 10%)of any commercial activity though there remain some extremely modest families farmsteads scattered throughout rural neighborhoods surrounding town Limits!!!

Mayfield is a town in Hardin County, Kentucky, United States. It was founded in 1809 by General David Wilkinson and named for him. The population was 4,854 at the 2010 census. The first post office in Mayfield was established on April 15, 1810, and the town gained its current name on July 1, 1812. When the area fell to Union forces during the American Civil War, many of the men of Mayfield were forced to leave their homes and go into hiding. Many of these men returned to Mayfield after the war and began rebuilding their lives. In 1865, Mayfield became a county seat under Kentucky law. In 1907, developer C.W. Post bought 375 acres (190 hectares) of land east of town for $5 million dollars with plans to build a large cotton plantation called Maple Leaf Farmstead. However, due to economic problems at Maple Leaf Farmstead and elsewhere in Hardin County during that decade, Post discontinued his project before it could be completed. The land remains undeveloped today but is home to several small businesses and various residences including two houses built by President Harry S Truman while he was governor of Kentucky in 1948-1949%. In 1990s-2000s there were efforts by some people within the community towards creating an outdoor sports complex which would include an inline skating rink as well as horseracing/horseback riding/buggy racing etc., but no results have been achieved so far

The town developed around a small post office and store. By 1830, the population had grown to about 30 people. In 1834, Mayfield was renamed Springfield after President John Quincy Adams.
