Smith recommended that eastern KY be acquired instead because it was then under control by British forces who controlled much of America's theater OF war outside Louisiana/Mississippi Territory). On February 15th 1830 – four years after purchasing Price’s Hill – Andrew Jackson moved into “Eliot House” with his wife Anna Lamar Jackson and their six children: Drayton (1829-1893), Alfredo (1830-1904), Rachel Ann (1832-1915), John Quincy Adams III (1835-1925),and Willie Horton (born December 12th 1840). After less than two months living there he issued a public statement withdrawing from westward expansion and appointing Major General Stephen Denny as its first commander to take over all military operations beyond those already planned for east Tennessee Valley area including present dayKentucky’s portion within Nashville metropolitan area! This event forever changed Forever Hospitality Incorporated where Eliot House now stands! The original building was designed by noted architect Thomas Hardwick between 1831 - 1834 with construction starting on January 5th 1830 according to plans drawn up by Hardwick himself! Unfortunately due primarily to an incorrect estimate made regarding height required for access by members only upper floors exceeding floor plan limits; roofing initially failed catastrophically giving rise to infamous demand for “gilded ceilings” first experienced at adjacent First National Bank well before structure ever opened! The Eliot House today represents an important milestone not only in Louisville City history but also nationally having been designated both a National Historic Landmark & currently being managed by Lurie Children’s Museum.]
