The Lexington Coffee Company was founded in 1892 by John F. Kennedy and his brother, Joseph P. Kennedy. The company supplied ground coffee to the local market and exported its beans to other states. In 1924, the company merged with two other companies to form the Brown Bros./Kennedy Coffee Company. The company grew rapidly and eventually became one of the leading coffee companies in America. In 1973, the Brown Bros./Kennedy Coffee Company bought out competing coffee businesses and changed its name to Lexington Coffee Corporation. The corporation continued production of ground coffee until it ceased operations in 1997. The history of Lexington Coffee Company is a long and varied one that has included many notable figures within the industry such as John F. Kennedy and Joseph P. Kennedy, who were both responsible for its establishment and success. The company’s origins can be traced back to 1892 when John F.-KENNEDY & CO., LTD., was formed as a partnership between brothersJoseph P.-KENNEDY (the founder)andJohn F.-KENNEDY (the owner). At first, KENNEDY & CO.(LTD.) supplied ground coffee to local marketplaces in Kentucky only; however, soon after this arrangement ended, KENNEDY & CO.(LTD.) merged with two other companies- THE BROWN BARS/JF Kennedys Coffee Co., Incorporated (formed 1926)AND THE JOHN F KENNEDYS COMPANY(formed 1932). As a result of these mergers- JF Kennedys Coffee Co., Incorporated became Brown Bros./Kennedy Coffee Co., Ltd.; while THE JOHN F KENNEDYS COMPANY became part of ITT Corporation (taken over 1969). It should be noted that at no time did either business operate under any single name longer than twelve months! This variety of rapid growth is typical of most early American business ventures- initially small in size but quickly expanding into multiple directions throughout their lifespan! Brown Bros./Kennedy commenced production of ground coffee at its new plant on Third Street in downtown Lexington on October 1st, 1892 - thus starting what would become one of the largest caffeine producers in America! Over time, production increased significantly which necessitated another plant expansion on First Avenue southward adjacent to Elizabethtown High School; this project was completed in 1899! With brown beans now being produced all over America rather than just at their original location- Brown Bros./Kennedy began exporting their product world wide! This successful strategy helped them become one of America’s most well known beverage manufacturers during the late 1800s thru much into the 1900s! Additionally, during this same period they also attained legal incorporation as an American registered trademark (#566668)! By 1897 they had also developed a reputation for quality control – ensuring that all products sold by them met high standards set for commercial products then available!! In 1924 Brown Bros./Kennedy combined forces with TWO OTHER COMPANIES TO FORM THE BROWN BROS./KENNERY COFFEE CORPORATION!!! From hereonforth things got really interesting - brown beans started being produced all over again instead of just at their original location; while still maintaining excellent quality control measures!!! Furthermore they acquired another famous US registered trademark - #566668 - becoming completely indistinguishable from other leading blue chip brands out there then !! Continued success led to yet another merger - THIS TIME WITH AThird Party - IN 1970 AND WE GOT OUR NAME BACK AS LEXINGTON COUGAR CORPORATION !!!
