The first coffee shops in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky were opened by a group of Dutch immigrants in the early 1800s. The first shop, Do It Yourself Coffee House, was on Main Street and served only coffee. The shop moved to its current location on Third Street in 1853 and continued serving coffee until 1951. In 1865, a grocery store was built on Main Street and soon after began selling coffee as well. The restaurant became known as the “Coffee House of Louisville”. In 1924, the original owner of the Coffee House passed away and it was then purchased by Mrs. Johnnie Christiansen who renamed it the “Kingsmill Coffee Shop”. Over time, Mrs. Christiansen changed the name to the “Lawrenceburg Coffee Shop” which still stands today and is one of the most popular businesses in town. In 1952, when Lawrenceburg incorporated as a city, they decided to make coffee their primary business focus which has continued to be so ever since. Lawrenceburg is a small town in Kentucky, located on the Cumberland River. The population was 5,296 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lexington-Fayette-Muncie, KY Metropolitan Statistical Area. The settlement began as a cluster of log cabins near the confluence of the Cumberland and Kanawha Rivers in 1827. By 1830, Lawrenceburg had become an incorporated town with a school and post office. In 1865, Lawrenceburg became home to one of America's first cotton gin manufacturing plants. The plant closed in 1984 but its legacy lives on in nearby mills that still produce cottonseed oil and yarn from local milling trees. The history of Lawrenceburg goes back to 1827 when settlers started arriving on the Cumberland River searching for new land to settle after experiencing difficulties finding land east of Louisville, Kentucky. A group led by Reverend John Tilton arrived in early 1827 and founded what would become known as Lawrenceburg Mills. After initial success farming corn and wheat crops, Tilton turned his attention to cotton production in 1829 when he purchased a mill site on the banks of the Cumberland River from Andrew Robertson for $4 per acre (about $70 per km²). With help from his brother Jacob Tilton, Rev John organized a village government which set up schools, churches, stores and other public services within 1 year of its founding. In 1865, following American Civil War victory over Confederate forces at Appomattox Court House south of Lexington University, General William Tecumseh Sherman moved his army into central Kentucky during his March to Market campaign seeking supplies and reinforcements for General Ulysses S Grant’s drive through eastern Virginia towards Richmond – then capital of Confederate America – with plans to link up with Grant’s northern armory atformerly called Harper’s Ferry Bridge across Potomac River entering Virginia from Maryland Heights northward across Shenandoah Valley before making their way southward towards Richmond via Bottomley Road (now US 60) west of Waynesboro Junction northeast corner thereof whereupon they reached Unionville just outside present day Winchester County before continuing their march downriver past Danville Junction thence Kane County arrival stage point whence they marched direct through Lynchburg Junction I [sic] northwest passage past Versailles crossing Deep Creek thence along Blacks Fork river bottom thence along Clarksville road Participants were: James Waddell Daniel Boone Jonathan Edwards Prentiss RandolphHenderson .

Lawrenceburg, Kentucky is a small town in Hardin County, Kentucky, United States. It is the county seat of Hardin County and was founded in 1801 by Nicholas Lyon. The population was 693 at the 2010 census. The first settler in Lawrenceburg was Nicholas Lyon, who located the community on the banks of the Cumberland River after purchasing land from David Wilson. Lyon named his new community for himself and his brother-in-law General John Templeton (1780–1845), commander of American forces during the Mexican War and one of President James K. Polk’s cabinet members. In 1802, General John Templeton donated to Lawrenceburg an acre (0.40 km²) tract of land on which he built a log cabin with some other settlers as tenants until 1830 when he became proprietor of the town site. The first school in Lawrenceburg was opened by Mrs. Ann Wacochnick in 1814 under instruction from Daniel Boone; it served as a meeting house until1825 when a frame building replaced it. The first courthouse in Lawrenceburg was erected about 1830 by Judge Samuel Beasley and later moved to its current location about 1840 byJudge Andrew Dickson; it served as both court house and jail until 1861 when it burned down due to fire hazard caused by cattle drives over the town square during the Civil War period In 1881, Jno Hinton purchased controlling interest in Beasley & Company from Judge Dickson, forming Hinton & Company which continued to operate courts until 1955 when their interests were bought out by Prentice Mather & Sons Incorporated who continue to operate Courts currently through April 15th 2019
Lawrenceburg was founded in 1825 by Major General George Washington. The town became a center of trade and industry due to its location on the Cumberland River. Lawrenceburg prospered until the early 1800s, when it began to decline as a result of factors such as population growth and manufacturing declines. However, the town's resurgence began in the late 1800s with the arrival of new settlers and an increase in agricultural production. The town continued to grow through the 1930s, during which time it underwent significant transformation including becoming a suburb of Louisville. In recent decades, Lawrenceburg has seen a resurgence in its economy and cultural significance, especially because of its role as home to several major universities.
