The Lawrenceburg Coast Guard Station was established in 1903. The station became a Coast Guard Auxiliary Station in 1951. In 1974, the Coast Guard Station was renamed the Lawrenceburg Coast Guard Station. The station is now part of the Kentucky National Guardsmen Command and Control Facility. The station provides support to nearly twenty-five military installations throughout Eastern Kentucky as well as surrounding states.

Lawrenceburg is a city in Northern Kentucky, United States. The population was 25,798 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Lawrence County and home to the Lawrenceburg University campus. The name "Lawrenceburg" was given to the community by General David Hunter in 1807 when he named it for John Lawrence, who had fought for independence from Great Britain. In 1828, an act of Congress designated Lawrenceburg as the site of what would become Louisville. However, due to its remote location and lack of infrastructure, Lawrenceburg declined to become Louisville's primary business and social center until after World War II when it became one of America's most vibrant small towns. The first settlement in what is now Lawrenceburg date back to 1792 when Captain Jameson moved his family from Wilmington Township in Butler County into present-day Highland Township on the Cumberland River. By 1800, there were over twenty families living here including six African American slaves who worked on land owned by their owners. A school was established in 1802 and soonBecame a popular stop for travelers on their way westward through Kentucky on their way to visit family or take part in religious services near Cincinnati or Pittsburgh. In 1820, Major General David Hunter arrived with a force of more than two hundred men at Fort Pitt (now) on the Ohio River and ordered all Native Americans out of Kentucky within fourteen days or they would be massacred without trial or compensation. After several months of guerrilla warfare against Native American forces led by Chief Wabash, General Hunter finally proclaimed East Stroudsburg—the capital city then located along present-day Pennsylvania Avenue—the new capital city on November 6th following a bloody siege that lasted three weeks during which over seventy people were killed including nine members of the General’s own brigade including his son Lieutenant Colonel David Hoggis[1]. On December 4th Governor William Clark came ashore with about four thousand troops[2]and surrounded Fort Pitt forcing Major General Hunter to order his men back inside before surrendering three days later under heavy artillery fire from Admiral Isaac Hull’s USS Constitution[3]. This event marks not only Lexington’s victory over British forces but also beginning what would be a long history as one of America’s most cherished military installations with personnel stationed throughout both Washington D.C., Baltimore City and Nashville TN.[4] Although little is known about this early period other than that many settlers died from Indian attacks,[5] subsequent growth led to increased development around pioneer homes such as Alexander McMillan’s log cabin used as a barracks during The Civil War while other homes such as Elijah Hicks house were built by Judge John Brownell who played an important role in developing local Politics and lawmaking prior to becoming one OF THE FOUNDERS OF LAWRENCEBURG UNIVERSITY IN 1954.[6] In 1827 MajorGeneralDavidHunter erecteda monumental stone plaque atFort Pitt commemorating this event leading directlyto its current name “Lawrenceburg†honoring both GeneralDavidHunter AND US Congressman DAVID HUNTER[7]. It remained a part of this company until it merged into the Penn Central Railroad in 1980. The downtown districts of both cities are now occupied by shopping malls and other office complexes. However, some of the older buildings still stand as reminders of local history and culture. For example, the Lewis & Clark Museum is located within one of these older districts and is open every day except Christmas from 9am to 4pm for visitors! Other popular attractions include Pioneer Village which contains an authentic Native American village complete with teepees and tomahawk spears; Old Fort which is also home to several historical exhibits; as well as numerous parks including Bardstown Park which has a large recreation area filled with horses and golf COURTS!
