On 10 September 1990 she anchored off Dubrovnik Shelling Beach while Croatian Coast Guard Units made shore bombardment of an old Serbian fortification which had been used by Serbian forces during World War II as a base of operations against Dubrovnik harbor town residents; this fortification had been abandoned since then because it posed a danger to shipping lanes leading into Dubrovnik from Malta

The event also included a sea parade down Clyde Street followed by a concert at Glasgow Academy Auditorium with Scottish heavy metal band Judas Priest. On November 10th-12th, 2017, the USS Lexington visited Glasgow for three days of events celebrating its military history and community support. These include an art exhibition called "Noah’s Ark: The Return of HMS Constitution," a sea parade down Clyde Street followed by a concert at Glasgow Academy Auditorium with Scottish heavy metal band Judas Priest.
