It has been said that the Gun Lover's history in Frankfort, Kentucky dates back to 1836. That year, a group of men from Kentucky purchased a cannon from Spain and brought it to Frankfort to be used as artillery against the Native Americans. The gun was renamed the "Old Fort Clark" and served as part of the city's defense until 1864. In 1865, when Louisville was destroyed by fire, the Old Fort Clark cannons were taken away and used in that city's defense. The guns still reside at Louisville Slugger Stadium today. In 1897, a man named Augustus Nutting founded Nutting Firearms Company in Frankfort. At that time, nutting firearms was one of the few firearms dealers in Kentucky. From his business premises,Nutting sold handguns and shotguns to individuals and businesses throughout the state of Kentucky. He also stored and maintained many of his guns for use during wartime. In later years, NutTING Firearms Company became known as "The rifle company." Over time, THE RIFLE COMPANY became one of Frankfort's most important businesses with its wide variety of rifles available for purchase including both military-style rifles and hunting rifles. Frankfort is a city in and the county seat of Marshall County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 25,824 at the 2010 census. Frankfort is the third-largest city in Marshall County after Louisville and Lexington. It is also one of two cities in Kentucky with a metropolitan area population over 100,000. The other is Cincinnati. The land that now makes up Frankfort was first settled by the Shawnee people in 1799. In 1802, Colonel John Sevier founded what would become Marshall County on land he bought from the Shawnee. The town of Frankfort was founded on December 16, 1802 by General James Wilkinson as a trading post on the Ohio River between Louisville and Lexington. By 1830, it had become an important transportation center due to its location on both sides of the river. In 1860, when Kentucky seceded from Union America, Franklin D Roosevelt became president of United States and ordered all American flags be lowered to half-staff for him because he felt that secession was illegal under law. As part of his plan to make reconstruction more fair across America, Roosevelt ordered that all towns with a population over 10 thousand turn intogregations within ten years so that African Americans could have their own neighborhoods without fear of violence or retribution from white mobs. In 1870s and 1880s much development took place in downtown Frankfort including new buildings such as Armoury Building which housed both federal government offices (including the Post Office) and businesses catering to black residents who were still living in tents near downtown during this time period despite laws prohibiting slavery throughout most of America at this time period; also Wigmore Hall located east side between Capitol Hill Avenue & Red Brick Road served as Law School while Business Men’s Clubhouse occupied building south side opposite Capitol Hill Avenue served as Social Clubhouse during this time period until 1968 when it burned down along with many other buildings during rioting following election of Barack Obama presidency

The gun lover gift history of my family goes back to when I was born in the early ’70s. My parents were both NRA members and they loved to hunt and shoot handguns.
