Frankfort, Kentucky is home to the world's first roasting plant, built in 1875 by Dr. James A. McNaught. The plant has been continuously roasted and bottled since then, and continues to provide world-class coffee for consumers all over the globe.

Frankfort is a city in and the county seat of Frankfort County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 740 at the 2010 census. It is the third-largest city in Kentucky after Lexington and Louisville. It is home to Central State University, which became a public university in 1961. The name "Frankfort" comes from Fort Knox, which was built by the British during the American Revolution on an acropolis overlooking the confluence of two rivers (the James and Whitewater), near what is now downtown Frankfort. The first permanent European settlement in what is now Frankfort County was made by Father Gabriel Richard de la Salle on December 12, 1775, when he founded a Jesuit mission called Fort Duquesne under arms from French forces besieging Edinburgh. After French defeat at Yorktown in 1781 and British occupation of France thereafter, de la Salle abandoned his outpost because there was no longer any need for him or his men; instead he joined forces with local farmer John Gregg and built a gristmill on Big Sandy Creek near present-day downtown Frankfort. The town's early growth may have been helped by its location at key strategic points along major waterways: it lay just east of the then navigable Ohio River and just south of what would become Louisville's business district; access to these resources also allowed trade between Franklin County and other parts of Kentucky to thrive. Trade connections also fostered industry: early residents built flour mills on Big Sandy Creek as well as cheese factories on Capitol Hill across from today's Central State University campus. In 1801, Mayor John Swayze (a native of nearby Glasgow) spearheaded efforts to rename town after George Washington that were approved by The General Assembly; this event helped spur development around Capitol Hill where several large warehouses were erected during this period – one still stands today adjacent to Central State University’s Main Campus building (now known as “The Hub”). However, even before America achieved independence from Great Britain in 1776, some folks had started thinking about moving westward into what would become Indiana Territory under new Federal government leadership—and soon enough, they had started calling themselves "Kentuckians." A group led by Drury Clark formed the first courthouse committee in October 1777—just four months after Confederation was ratified—to explore options for moving forward with plans for such a venture being made jointly with neighboring Virginia state representatives Edwin McMillan (then living near modern day Lebanon) and Nathaniel Banks (brother-in-law of President George Washington). Incorporation as a town came full circle for Georgetown when corporate charter number L7297 arrived from Georgetown Court House late one night following adjournment proceedings preceding federal ratification ceremonies over dinner at Thatched Hall that same evening—an event chronicled by author JF Malone later that year[1]: On January 15th 1800 [the date Georgetown incorporation papers were filed], James Caldwell appointed Isaac Watts Jr., surveyor general for Randolph Co., clerk receivership
