The Coast Guard Gift History Museum in Frankfort, Kentucky preserves the history of the Coast Guard and its gift programs. The museum is open every day from 9am to 5pm. Admission is free. The Coast Guard was founded on December 10, 1917, by United States Congress under the jurisdiction of the Department of Commerce and Labor. The first commissioned officer in the Coast Guard was Captain George Wickersham who served as Commandant at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. On May 3, 1922, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed an act creating the National Security Council which directed that all executive branch departments and agencies be organized into a single body called “the National Security Council with Power To Dowse and Salvage Vessels” (NSCPWD). This body was created to provide for homeland security by authorizing the President to purchase or lease assets necessary for coastal defense purposes including vessels and equipment. In 1951, Congress passed PubL No 95-468 which provided for a coast guard commander who would have overall command over all US coasts upon proclamation from Ulysses S. Grant (Ulysses Sideday) in office; this Commander would report directly to then Secretary of Defense James Forrestal (James Forrestal). In 1965 Congressman Don Edwards introduced HR 6055 which became known as The Richardson Amendment after then Assistant Deputy Attorney General Edwin Richardson who sponsored it in House intent on making it more difficult for state governors to contract with local law enforcement services without congressional approval; this amendment never made it out of committee but rather died without ever being acted upon due to presidential vetoes numerous times during Lyndon Johnson’s presidency On November 20th 1971 Rear Admiral John A Kappenberg assumed command of USCGC PCG-3 when Commodore Harry Hoey resigned effective November 15th following his service on board USS Boxer during Operation El Dorado Canyon Commodore Hoey had been nominated by Vice Admiral Loren J Bowen who served as Chief of Staff aboard USS Enterprise during that campaign Commodore Hoey was later given a Presidential Unit Citation for his actions while commanding PCG-3 during that operation

Frankfort, Kentucky is a city in and the county seat of Frankfort County, Kentucky. The population was 452 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lexington-Fayette, KY Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded by General Robert E. Lee in 1801 as a military post on the southern border of what is now Ky., opposite Henderson, Tennessee. The first settler in Frankfort was James Covington, who arrived in 1792. He built a cabin near present day Capitol Hill and named it "Covington's Fort". Many other settlers followed Covington to this new location including John Flanagan, Hugh McCulloch and others. In 1800 French traders operating out of St. Louis made offerings for land east of Frankfort Falls that would become present day KYashville (now Louisville). Ulysses S. Grant leased from these Frenchmen 1/4 mile square on both sides of Court Street within today's downtown area for $250 per annum with an option to purchase at any time! This lease became known as the Grant Purchase which led to Grants ownership of much ofKYashville land later on! After purchasing this land from the French traders Grant donated most or all of it to various local community organizations including Baptist church (now First Baptist Church), Masonic Lodge #3 (now United Missouri Masonic Lodge No 3), American Legion Post #1 (now Veterans Affairs Medical Center), etc... These donations helped build up many important institutions and landmarks in Frankfort today! Frankfort is a small, historic town in Scott County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 1,872 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Scott County. Frankfort is located on the east bank of the Ohio River and is part of the Louisville metropolitan area. The first permanent settler in what would become Frankfort was Jameson Caldwell in 1792. Caldwell had come to Indiana from Maryland with his family and settled near present-day Lebanon in Scott County. He then built a cabin on what is now North Main Street and called it "Caldwell's Fort". In 1811, Colonel John Brown purchased Caldwell's land, laid out a town square and named it for himself – "Frankfort" – after his home state of Kentucky. The first post office was established in 1812 at "Plymouth", but became known as "Frankfort" because its location made it convenient for shipping goods to and from Louisville. In 1814, surveyor Elijah Howe laid out a street plan for Frankfort that included four blocks north of Center Court Avenue (now Third Street). By 1840, most of downtown Franksfort had been erected along this street grid with homes built one block per side or more on small lots contiguous with one another. Streets were named according to horseback riders who rode them: Highways 1 through 6 followed routes worn by horseback drivers during their visits to shop at local merchants; East Market Street ran parallel to State Road 7 (later I-65) before turning southward into Old Town; Market Street continued eastward until it met First Avenue (now Broadway) near Second Methodist Church; South Market Street ran concurrent with State Road 7 until it turned westward into Third Street; FourthStreet served as an eastern border between Old Town and Lexington before joining again southwestward toward Lexington soon afterward. During much of the 1800s KY Route 9a passed through central Frankfort including parts of today's Fifth Ave., Elm St., Gaylord Ave., US 60/Veterans Memorial Highway (US 412), current US 31/National Freeway 24 near downtown as well as movie theaters like Regal Cinemas & Loews Palace Theatre which are all still standing today! Bluegrass artist Ronnie Dunn has recorded several albums here including 1983’s “Alive And Well” live performance at Franklin’s Philharmonic Hall! The decline and fall of coal mining around Manchesterville began around 1900 when blast furnaces were developed there becoming more efficient than olderoconvex blast furnaces used elsewhere in Appalachia resulting in increased sulfur dioxide gas emissions which caused acid rain throughout much of Appalachia beginning about 1915 although some areas did not experience significant damage due to overuse - typical West Virginia coal mine practice being different than those found throughout Appalachia however significant environmental degradation taking place within these same boundaries resulted from later stripmining operations which have resulted in loss(s)of endangered plant species endemic to that region - plants such as Harpy Eagle Guarana while other trees have since been saved thanks primarily to efforts by volunteers working together with various organizations such as Appalachian Voices Now! As Kentucky experienced rapid population growth due largely to immigration following Reconstruction Period Harding Democrats took control statewide starting with Mayor Sweeny's appointment effective January 15th 1865 he rapidly rebuilt city hall reconstructed public schools numerous churches etc .... This period also marked end days for pre noble slave owners large plantations prospered thru prohibition era because they could no longer import slaves so they lost access too many markets mainstream America where high paying jobs awaited them therefore leading them down spiral towards poverty
Frankfort was founded on the present site of the city by James Robertson in 1795. The first post office in Frankfort was established in 1814. In 1827, the town became a county seat and it has remained that way ever since. The population of Frankfort grew rapidly during the early 19th century, reaching more than 10,000 by 1830. However, the Industrial Revolution caused a decrease in population growth, and by 1860 only 4,711 people lived in Frankfort proper. However, due to its location as a hub for rail transportation and its role as an important slave market during the antebellum period, Frankfort experienced significant growth thereafter. By 1870, the city had reached nearly 30,000 residents. After losing its status as a county seat in 1871 and becoming an independent municipality within Kentucky following statehood – which occurred when Kentucky became a United States Territory – Frankfort experienced continued rapid growth until it reached its current size of 508 residents in 1975.
