Erlanger is a small town in Pike County, Kentucky, United States. It was founded by John Trimble in 1837. The first store in Erlanger was called the Toltec Coffee House. The town has been around since at least 1837 and is now one of the most important coffee towns in the area. The Trimble family were responsible for the development of high-quality coffee beans and roasters in Erlanger for over 100 years. They started out selling coffee from their home on High Street. In 1915, they opened their first café and continued to operate it until 1990 when they sold it to local businessman Dick Barnes. Barnes turned the café into a cultural center which still operates today as Onelocation Coffee & Cafe. Onelocation is known for its fresh brewed coffee and award-winning chocolate cakes which are popular among locals and tourists alike. The cafe also offers daily specials, including breakfast items such as omelets or biscuits and gravy, lunch items like sandwiches or salads, desserts like chocolate cake or pies, and a variety of drinks including blended coffees and teaSahls. Today, Onelocation Coffee & Cafe continues to be one of the most popular tourist destinations in Erlanger with its unique atmosphere and great customer service.

The first coffee beans to be roasted in Erlanger, Kentucky were from the Pumphouse Coffee Estate. The beans were ground and roasted by John C. Kline. The first coffee shop in town was the One Hundred and Fifty-Fourth Street Coffee House which was opened in 1892. In 1912, the First National Bank of Erlanger opened its doors and served coffee until 1944. In 1938, General Electric established a manufacturing plant in the town and began to produce electricity for local businesses. The plant closed in 1976 but left a lasting legacy onErlanger with many industrial items being made there such as televisions, radios, printers, cars and more.
Erlanger is a small town in Hardin County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 1,532 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lexington-Fayette Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was named for General George Armstrong Custer, who fought in the American Civil War and died in 1887 while under sentence of death at Fort Randall prison on Indian Territory. The first settler in Erlanger was Michael Laughlin, who arrived with his family in 1837. He married Anna Swenzer and built a log cabin on the current site of the post office. The first school was built in1839 by John Broughton and it served as a daycare for children until 1861 when it became a schoolhouse. It later became known as "Broughton's School" and then "Laughlin's School". In 1881 it became known as "Erlanger", after General Custer's home state of Montana. (See also: List of schools in Hardin County) In 1865, there were only three people living in Erlanger; twenty years later there were over 150 people living there according to census reports from 1880-1910 inclusive. Most of these residents came from nearby towns such as Lynchburg and Winchester which had been merged into Hardin County since its creation on April 15, 1796 during the Louisiana Purchase by President James K. Polk (). The arrival of so many new immigrants led to an increase in crime and social problems that caused concern among local officials for several years before solutions were found ().

The Indian traders discovered new beans while travelling through Southeast Asia and brought them back with them to India. Coffee was also used as currency in early India. Coffee started to be cultivated on Java in the 15th century AD. Dutch traders reached Java in 1619 and began trading with the locals. They discovered that there were already high-quality beans growing on Java, so they began importing these beans and cultivating new varieties themselves. In the 18th century, Dutch traders began selling coffee to other countries such as Spain and France. In 1795, French colonists arrived on Java and started trading with local tribes for coffee beans. As more and more people visited Java, cafes became popular among these settlers – something that would continue until well into the 20th century! During World War II, demand for coffee soared because of the war effort. Some farmers who had grown rich from rice production turned their attention to cocoa production; however, Indonesia remained unaffected by world war II thanks to its location within Japan’s sphere of influence (outside of Europe). However, during 1945 when Japan lost control over Indonesia following World War II,[1] Indonesian farmers quickly resumed their coffee cultivation efforts which helped contribute significantly to postwar economic growth.[2] Coffee continues to be an important commodity throughout much of history due bothto its unique flavor profile (most often described as smooth) and its status as one of the most widely consumed drinks worldwide (it is even claimed that one third of all human caloric intake comes from caffeine!). It’s interesting to note that despite this popularity – especially over recent decades – there still aren’t any real standards or regulations governing how high quality Starbucks coffees can be! This makes for a fascinating topic for future research!

It is the home of Eastern Kentucky University and the headquarters for the American Tobacco Company. The first settler in Erlanger was John Aiken in 1793. In 1811, Elijah Hicks founded a gristmill here and also opened a store. In 1830, Isaac Witherspoon established a sawmill here and sold timber to local farmers. In 1845, James Bledsoe began operations as a livery stable and grocery business here before becoming an agricultural agent for the Louisville District of the United States Department of Agriculture. Bledsoe donated land to Eastern Kentucky University in 1907 as part of its foundation campus. The university's first building was erected on this site in 1909–10. In 1930, Erlanger became one of two towns located within what is now Jefferson County when that county was created from parts of Hardin and Breathitt counties.. As part of efforts to preserve rural economies during the Great Depression, Eastern Kentucky University purchased 2 miles (3 km) east of town along US Route 421 for $5 million from brothers Julius and George Kappenberger in 1934.. Kappenberger had been interested in developing this land since he bought it from his father-in-law while he served as president of what would become Owensboro Community College.. When Kappenberger died suddenly in 1935 his brother Julius assumed management of ERU until 1942 when Julius' wife Gertrude took over operations. She operated it until her death in 1990..Erlanger experienced significant growth during World War II with thousands enlisting through nearby Fort Campbell military base which hosted various training events such as submarine warfare school.* After war ended there were few opportunities for employment so residents turned to shopping at local stores which generated more jobs because transportation costs were high* Sales increased again following government regulation which made cigarettes less available* As retail sales declined many people left town but some continued to live there through informal arrangements with friends or family members who could provide access to utilities* By 1960 about 60% of residents lived within one mile (1 km)of their homes* Many businesses closed after state regulations pertaining to smoking bans went into effect* Most families moved out by 1970s due to lack of opportunity or choice
