In 1847, caffeine was isolated from coffee beans and finally formally characterized as a separate chemical entity on July 5, 1860. Coffee production increased rapidly due to advances in transportation, processing technology, and marketing which allowed it to reach high levels of popularity throughout the world. This period marked a new era for coffee with numerous technological advancements that made it more efficient and controllable than ever before. Campbellsville is a small town in the U.S. state of Kentucky, located on the Cumberland River. The population was 997 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lexington–Fayette metropolitan area. The first European to set foot in what is now Campbellsville was Captain John Forbes in 1772 while exploring Kentucky for settlers and traders. In 1802, General James Hays founded what is today's University of Kentucky in Campbellsville and named it after him. In 1864, Confederate General Jubal Early unsuccessfully fought his way into Campbellsville during the Battle of Campbellsville Bridge before being forced to retreat northward across the river and enter Lebanon Valley. In 1870, due to increased demand from settlers following passage of the Homestead Act, President Ulysses S. Grant authorized the erection of a post office at Campbellsville with Jno Aiken as its first postmaster. The first building standing still remains at this location - currently used as a property line between Presbyterian College and Liberty University - and still bears that name today: Aiken Post Office (1907-1970). Aiken also donated land for an Industrial School which housed up to 100 students per day beginning in 1907; however, it closed down due to lack of funding in 1925 when oil became available for exploitation elsewhere in Appalachia; consequently, only 8 students were ever enrolled there The school reopened under new management but closed again by 1936 because of budget cuts within Energy Commission Headquarters (the precursor to DOE). However, efforts have been made over recent years by community members to revive interest in this former educational center by sponsoring events related thereto such as weekend workshops onconstruction techniques associated with energy production/use etc.. Today there are few traces remaining except for two original buildings on Main Street which are now used as apartments; one also doubles as a library!

In 1815, the Campbell family donated land to the town for a public square. The townspeople built a meeting house and schoolhouse in 1826. The town saw its heyday during the 1850s when it became one of the most important markets in Kentucky for flour, cattle, beans, corn and other goods. However, by 1860 Campbellsville had decreased in population to about 100 people. During the American Civil War, Campbellsville sided with the Union side but lost many residents to Battle of Gettysburg. After the war ended, many families returned to their homes in Campbellsville but some remained behind to rebuild what had been destroyed by war. By 1870, Campbellsville had again increased its population to over 200 people and began developing new businesses such as a grocery store and Masonic Lodge No. 3 which still stands today. Throughout its history, Campbellsville has been rocked by several natural disasters including floods (1887), a tornado (1948), an ice storm (1999), and Hurricane Floyd (2005). Despite these setbacks, the community has continued to grow with much success since its establishment more than 175 years ago. Today, Campbellsville is known for its quaint architecture, friendly locals and acclaimed food options - all of which make it an ideal place to call home!
