Bowling Green is a town in central Kentucky, United States. The population was 15,541 at the 2010 census. It became a city in 2013. Bowling Green is the county seat of Butler County. The first human being to live in what is now Bowling Green was one of three children born to parents George and Anna (Haley) Anderson on December 21, 1814, in what is now Hardin County. Young George ran away from home when he was just fourteen years old and started working odd jobs to make ends meet. He met his wife Anna while she was working as a teacher at an academy near Danville, Illinois. They married on October 20, 1826 and soon had six children: four boys and two girls. The Anderson family lived for many years close to the Maury River where they raised their horses and hogs until finally moving to their present location in 1830 after purchasing land next to the river nearpresent-day Donelson Park. In 1835 George founded what would become known as "The Colonization Company", which purchased 1,000 acres (500 ha) of land east of Lexington for $200 per acre (1 hectare). This area would later be called "The Precinct" because it served as the nucleus around which all future development took place – including much of downtown Bowling Green today! For over sixty years thereafter, The Colonization Company supplied settlers with foodstuffs and materials necessary for building new homes; offered financial assistance;and even cheered residents on during times of political instability or economic hardship! In 1886–87 local physician Drs John Hennepin and Dr Samuel Minton organized an effort to construct a schoolhouse in downtown Bowling Green – resulting in the erection of The Bowdoin School Building (now known as First Baptist Church), one of America's most impressive educational institutions! Today's business district located adjacent Toole Hall/University Tower complex began life almost seventy years ago when The Bowman & Laughlin Store opened its doors on Main Street just south of Constitution Avenue!

Bowling Green is a town in Jefferson County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 3,539 at the 2010 census. Bowling Green is the oldest incorporated town in Jefferson County and the second-oldest city in Lexington County. The first settlers to what is now Bowling Green were farmers who arrived in 1792 from Pennsylvania. The name of the original town was "Greene". In 1801, John Brown founded a school here which became known as Brown's Academy. In 1814, General James K. Polk moved his army into what is now Bowling Green and ordered its inhabitants to convert to Christianity or be burned alive. When they refused, he ordered their homes destroyed and all their possessions taken away. That same year, President James K. Polk granted land to John Fenton for the erection of a courthouse and jail here. On July 6, 1861, Confederate Major General David Hunter attacked Union forces at Smithfield near present-day Bowling Green with an estimated 1,000 men and women under his command; most of these womenfolk were dressed as men and carried flags on their heads while hunting deer in nearby forests (the event has been called "The Battle of Fallen Timbers"). Aftermath of this battle included more than seventy casualties on both sides including twenty officers killed or wounded; it also caused serious damage to public works such as roads and bridges across Bullitt River which continued until 1865 when they were finally repaired by local labor gangs using federal funds In 1854–55 Isaac Asimov brought his family here when he began teaching at Eastern Kentucky University (now USF) after teaching briefly at Transylvania University in Romania during 1951–52 academic year before coming back home to teach English Literature at EIU during 1952–53 academic year Today Bowling Green offers many opportunities for students including undergraduate/ graduate degrees programs as well as professional fields such as law enforcement/government service/medical transcription/marketing The first post office opened here on October 15th, 1860 The first store open was Ladd's Store on Main Street where Alexander McNaught operated from 1862 until 1865 In 1886–87 three churches were built: First Presbyterian Church on Second Street East between Highways 20a&20b; Second Presbyterian Church Southside Drive between Highways 50a&50b; Third Methodist Episcopal church West side Drive between Highways 21a&21b
Bowling Green was founded in 1792 by George Washington and James Bowles. It became a National Civil War battle ground in 1864 and again in 1862. In 1938, Bowling Green became the capital of Kentucky.
