The Wichita Air National Guard's 232nd Fighter Wing provides air support for the Wichita Division of the United States Army Reserve. The wing is one of three U.S. fighter wings located in Wichita. The wing was activated on 1 July 1951 as a cadet training wing and was redesignated as the 232nd Fighter Wing on 15 October 1957. Inactivated on 20 September 1992 Activated again on 18 February 1993 as an operational fighter unit with F-4 Phantom IIs equipped with AIM-9 Sidewinder missiles Inactivated again on 16 October 1996 when it was merged into the 7th Bombardment Wing at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio; however, any remaining squadron assets were kept here until 10 May 1997 when they were transferred to the 9th Bombardment Wing at Schriever AFB, Colorado (F-15E/F Eagle). This left Wichita without any active flying units and its only active bomber unit since activation was the 104th Airlift Squadron which converted to E-3 Sentry Warning System aircraft in December 1995. On 16 May 1997, all these assets were combined into one organization - "Wichita Air National Guard" - under command of Headquarters USAF's 8th Air Force located at McConnell AFB, Kansas City Mo.. Activated once more 24 October 1998 with F/A-18 Hornets equipped with Raytheon Tomahawk missiles against enemy targets inside Iraq Inactivated again effective 29 November 2003 when it was combined into component commands within Air Combat Command (ACC) - Tactical Aerospace Forces (TAF) - elements subordinate to Boeing Co.'s 5th TAF Group stationed at Whiteman AFB Missouri providing strike forces for global war in WIA . However, any remaining squadron assets were kept here until 14 January 2004 when they were transferred to 4142nd Aerospace Maintenance Squadron at Davis-Monthan AFB Tucson Ariz.. Inactivation effective 3 April 2006 when it became part of 10th Flying Training Wing under command of 9 th Flying Training Center Sunnyvale Calif relocated from San Diego Calif .. Here we still have our 234 FW detachment based out of Sunnyvale that provides advanced training for ground control operators and flight controllers both P2P & Manned Maneuvering Unit type exercises along side interceptor flybys during live fire exercises called "Strike Eagle"

Additionally, this event markedthe first time that air force generals had received jets instead of horses or cars from United States taxpayers. 4) In 1992, then-President Clinton awarded Majestic Airlines founder James Doolittle a Boeing 737-800 for his effort in saving many lives during Operation Desert Storm. 5) Finally, in 2006 Congress passed legislation authorizing USAF officers and enlisted members to receive presents such as clothes and electronics when they achieve certain milestones within their careers or service record – such as being deployed overseas for more than three months consecutively or having completed at least five deployments within five years consecutive time period). As a result, every branchof service now has its own Gift History Page on USAF websites!
