In 1925, three local businessmen bought land near downtown Salina and began to grow coffee trees. Today, their shop remains one of the most visited tourist attractions in town – not just because of their amazing selection of beans or because of their delicious cupcakes (although those definitely make an appearance). Salina, Kansas is a city in Saline County, Kansas, United States. The population was 5,059 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wichita metropolitan area. The city was founded in 1881 by James A. Riley and named for him. Salina became a city on November 3, 1907. On December 1st of the same year, it passed an ordinance to allow women to vote. On January 8th of 1908, Salina had its first streetcar service and on January 16th it passed an ordinance providing for public schools within city limits. The Great Depression struck Salina hard, as nearly all businesses closed their doors and many residents lost their jobs or were forced to take paycuts in order to remain afloat. However, despite these challenges, Salina persevered and saw some growth through annexation of neighboring townships over the years - adding 2 more municipalities (Bellevue and Olathe) until it reached its current size of 7 municipalities on December 1st 1998 when it annexed Newtonville Township which formerly consisted of 4 villages: Belton-Boydtown-Ephrata-Newtonville In recent years there have been efforts made to bring back the streetcar system that once served as a mainstay of life in town; however this has not gone uncontested with local officials considering alternative means such as bus service or establishing mobile apps that could be used instead

Salina, Kansas is a small town in east-central Kansas that was founded in 1887. It is the county seat of Saline County and is located on the Salina River. The population of Salina at the 2010 census was 15,362. The first settlers to what is now Salina were Methodist missionaries who arrived in 1881. They built a log cabin on the riverbank and named it "Salina." The town began as a small trading post by the river where travelers could stop for supplies and sell goods they had collected along their journey. In 1886, the railroad came through and made economic impact on the community by bringing commerce and people to town. The growth ofSalina led to its incorporation as a municipality in 1907. From 1911 until 1935, Salina was home to two United States Senators from Kansas: Harry S Truman and John F Kennedy. In 1935, when Wichita Falls became an incorporated city, Saline County merged with Wichita County to form new jurisdiction under Wichita Falls City Police Department which continued operation until 1983 when it merged into Wichita County Sheriff's Department. That year also saw the first competitive election for school district officers in history when three towns - Topeka, Shawnee Mission and Independence - formed their own school board pursuant to state mandate following passage of legislation establishing districts throughout Kansas instead of individual school boards which had been used since before World War I . All current residents of Saline are citizens or residents of one or more adjoining counties who have sworn Allegiance ( oath ) to the United States Constitution & Bill Of Rights
