The history of the Salina Shooter Gift Shop is long and varied. It began in 1922 when a small grocery store, the Barmaids, opened on Fourth Street in Salina. The shop was run by Mrs. Ada French and her daughter, Gertrude. In 1933, the store moved to its current location at 7th and Market Streets. On July 1, 1935, the name of the business was changed from the Barmaids to the Salina Shooter Gift Shop. From 1935 until 1971, when it was purchased by local businessman Ray Cooksey, the Shooter Gift Shop was located at 127 West Main Street in downtown Salina. From 1971-1994 it was located at 208 North 2nd Street in rural Cobb County before moving back to its original location at 7th and Market Streets in 1995. Currently, there are three Shooter Gift Shops operating throughout Kansas: one located in Overland Park; one located in Wichita; and one located in Topeka. The primary purpose of each shop is different but all three offer unique shopping experiences for shoppers who love shooting sports equipment or firearms accessories. Eachshop has a range of inventory that includes items such as handguns (including rifles), shotguns, ammo boxes and more! In addition to selling firearms products, each shop also offers Shooting Sports Supplies including ammunition supplies for both handguns and shotguns as well as game animals like dogs or cats! In order to support shooting sport enthusiasts all over western Kansas like myself I think these shops are essential!

Salina, Kansas, is a city in the U.S. state of Kansas, located on the Saline River near its confluence with the Missouri River. The population was 997 at the 2010 census and 1,247 at the 2013 estimate. It is part of Topeka-Anchorage, KS Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Salina Chieftain newspaper is published in Salina and online. The first permanent European settler in what became Salina County was Nicholas Meeks in 1837. He founded a logging camp on the site now known as Meeksville about two miles west of present-day Salina. A post office called Meeksville was established in 1838 under federal jurisdiction but remained inactive for several years until it was revived by Territorial Governor James Ketchum in May 1840 as secondpost (a new name for post office) for section 3 east of the Arkansas River. In December 1840 Ketchum designated Fort Kearny as his headquarters for this area and announced plans to establish a military post here to resist American Indian attacks on settlers during the Texas War of Independence (1836-1846). In 1849 prospectors discovered coal mines near present-day Salina while exploring Forney Creek; this led to significant development around these mines over time including construction of a railroad from Topeka to salina and various other businesses within view of these mines and Prospector's Hall brick works where trains stopped to pick up workers for long periods during their visits to these mines. In 1865 Main Street began service through town when an experimental branch railway was built linking Topeka with engines running down Main Street which later became standard practice across most major cities throughout America before disappearing completely in 1978 when local internet access became available everywhere without any physical interchanges). During World War I production at nearby Phelps Dodge munitions plant resulted in increased need for food items transported into war zones so local farmers developed a hinterland market system that exported produce directly to Germany, Austria, Italy and France; this system continued after hostilities ended until marketing restrictions were introduced following the economic recession of 1929 which impacted demand greatly within those countries particularly Germany where exports had previously been unrestricted due largely to wartime production subsidies which continued even after those subsidies expired.) Salina, Kansas was founded in 1867 by the Smiths. The town was named for General Saline, a military officer who fought in the Mexican-American War and the American Civil War. The first post office was established in Salina in 1868. The first store opened in 1870. In 1915, the population of Salina was 2,000 and it had a school system that included ten schools and two churches. In 1925, construction began on what is now Wichita State University; it would be Salina's only university until Wichita State became Wichita Community College in 1978. By 1970, Salina's population had increased to 25,000 and it had a hospital that served as both primary care physician and maternity center. In 1980, the town approved plans to build an expressway through its agricultural district which would connect Wichita with Topeka via I-435. The project failed to get funding from then-Gov. Lynn Adelman and it never went ahead. However, advertising throughout Kansas during this time led to the development of what is now Interstate 70 through Salina - one of the most heavily traveled highways in the state. As of 2014, Salina has a population of 40,812 residents (as of 2015) and is home to both Wichita State University (WSU) – which has over 3400 students and staff members – as well as local businesses such as KFC/Chick-fil-A etc., along with several other small villages within its limits including North Central OKLAHOMA (NOK), Blue Valley KS., Easton KS., Live Oak TX., McCoy CO., etc.. As mentioned earlier,Salina was founded by General John Smith himself when he left Missouri for Mexico purposes on July 4th 186?9 after being ordered by President James Kossuth not to cross into Texas without authorization from Mexico City! Heading into his third day of travel across country following orders received just prior at Independence Hall on June 12th von Humboldt County Judge Arthur Goldsmith sentenced General John Smith "to die or leave this country" stating: "the people have spoken." After hearing reports back east that Gen?John may soon be joining forces with Lt.?General David Hunter who currently controls all resources up north near Fort Worth against Santa Anna’s forces also headed towards Austin & San Antonio River crossings open your attention we need someone here today more than ever before... so please order General John Smith put away where he belongs & go home!!! Salina, Kansas was founded in 1867 by Captain John S. Porter and his wife Mary. The town was named after the Salina River which flows through it. In 1880, the first school in Salina was built and the first post office was established. In 1892, an agricultural fair was held in Salina and the first oil well was drilled in the area. In 1920, a movie theater was built and in 1951, the first grocery store opened in Salina.
