National Guard gifts have been a part of the history of Salina, Kansas for more than 60 years. The first gift from the national guard was a rifle to Alva A. Hargrave on December 15, 1917. From that day forward, national guard gifts were regularly given to citizens in Salina and throughout the region. The National Guard is an organization made up of soldiers who are called into service by their local governments. The Salina area has received numerous national guard gifts over the years, including rifles and shotguns, blankets and clothing, food supplies, and even cars and trucks. Today, the Salina Area National Guard Foundation helps support Operation Christmas Tree by giving away gifts each year during November. Each state has its own militia, which is made up of soldiers who have been sworn into service by their state governors. The National Guard unit in your state may be called upon to help protect your community or area from harm should an emergency arise. There are many reasons why you might want to join the National Guard unit in your state. Some examples include if you live in a rural area and need help keeping your community safe from crime or if you feel like your local police force isn't able or unwilling to do enough to keep us safe. There are also Guardsmen who serve in Iraq and Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom andOperation Inherent Resolve respectively. If you're interested in joining up, there's no one-size-fits-all answer, but there are some things that you'll need to consider before doing so: What type of unit will I be joining? The most common type of Guard Unit is called a Barracks Company; these companies consist of three sections: Infantry (the front line), artillery (fire support) and engineers (buildings). There are also Troop Carrier Battalions which consists onlyof Airborne troops (and sometimes tanks) used for anti-tank operations on roads and bridges across enemy territory
The Salina National Guard was organized on December 15, 1907. The first unit to be activated was the 318th Infantry Regiment. It was later redesignated as the 318th Cavalry Regiment and then the 318th Field Artillery Regiment. In 1912, the regiment became part of the new National Guards Bureau and it was also redesignated as the 319th Infantry Regiment in 1916. It again became a brigade-level unit in 1938 and reorganized as a divisional unit in 1940. The divisional organization changed yet again in 1944 when it became an infantry division under Army Corps of Engineers control. The divisional headquarters moved from Topeka to Salina in 1946 and then back to Topeka after Army Corps of Engineers control ended in 1949. In 1963, the 316th Infantry Regiment become a battalion-level unit within 1st Brigade Combat Team Kansas National Guard at Fort Riley before being absorbed into Headquarters and Headquarters Company Kansas National Guard at that facility in 1965.
Salina, Kansas is a city in Salina County, Kansas, United States. The population was 1,819 at the 2010 census. It lies at the junction of U.S. Route 251 and Kansas State Highway 54. The city was founded on July 4, 1867 by John Crouch and others as Canton. It was named for General James Salinas who served as an aide to Ulysses S. Grant during the American Civil War. Salina is home to the University of Central Kansas which was established in 1915 and has a student body of over 9,000 people making it one of the most populous universities in the state. The university is also home to The Salina Symphony Orchestra which performs throughout central KS and beyond annually
There is no one definitive answer to this question, as the history of the National Guard has undergone many changes over the years. However, some commonly accepted theories suggest that the first national guard units were established in 1792 during the Second French Republic; or, alternatively, that they were created in 1907 as part of a larger effort to provide defense for newly independent America following World War I. Regardless of when these units were founded, their purpose was always the same: to provide military service and support to local governments across America. Throughout its history, the National Guard has been used extensively by both Republican and Democratic administrations alike. In 1934, President Franklin D. Roosevelt ordered all American forces into gear for World War II under the terms of his “New Deal” program; and following Victory in Europe, American troops began deployments throughout North Africa and Italy. The National Guard played an important role in both wars, providing services such as artillery support and infantry training on various battlefields. In recent years, however, there have been increasing calls for reform within the National Guard itself – specifically with regards to its structure and operations. This has led to questions about whether or not it is still a useful tool for government officials tasked with responsible security responsibilities? And if so, how effective does it currently appear? To date there is no definitive answer – but given recent events we can only hope that future decisions will reflect more wisely on our Nation’s Armed Forces than previous ones have done.

Salina, Kansas is a small town in Sedgwick County, Kansas, United States. The population was 1,953 at the 2010 census. Salina is part of the Wichita metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1872 by Jews who had immigrated from Eastern Europe. It became a general store and mercantile center before becoming an agricultural community. In 1907, the town incorporated as a village. In 1970, Salina moved to its current location on the east side of Sedgwick County near Wichita Falls. The history of Salina starts with Jews who came from Eastern Europe in 1872. They started a general store and mercantile center in what is now Salina and it grew into an agricultural community that supplied goods to other towns in the region. By 1907, the village had incorporated as a municipality and in 1970 it moved to its current location on the east side of Sedgwick County near Wichita Falls. In 2007, Salina honored Holocaust survivors by having Yad Vashem plaque located outside its municipal building honoring all those who died during World War II in eastern Poland (the so-called “Polish Corridor”). The plaque reads: "This beautiful plaque honors all Polish victims of concentration camps and extermination programmes within sedentary areas of this country – men women and children – murdered under orders of Nazi Germany."
Salina, Kansas was founded in 1859 by the Mormon pioneers. The town was named for General David Salina, who had led a brigade of Mexican War veterans against the US forces at the Battle of Hidalgo. The community grew quickly and by 1865 it boasted a population of over 1,000 people. In 1867, Salina became the capital of what would be called Dakota Territory. The town enjoyed much success as a trading post and agricultural center before rail travel arrived in the area in the 1890s and development accelerated. By 1910, Salina had become an important railroad junction with access to both Chicago and Omaha. However, during World War I, Salina was destroyed by fire; its loss made it one of Kansas' most struggling towns. After the war startup went back up but began to decline again in the 1920s as alcohol prohibition took hold in America. In 1969, Salina regained its former prominence when it became home to an annual cattle market which continues today.
