The Ottawa, Kansas National Guard was founded in 1907. The armored car company that the Guards were born from was first called Armour and then Armstrong-Whitney. In 1917, the National Guard Headquarters moved to Topeka, Kansas and the name changed to the Kansas National Guard. On October 1st, 1967, theNational Guard Headquarters moved back to Ottawa after years of being based in Topeka. The reason for this move is unknown but it may have been because of concerns about possible military involvement in the political unrest happening in Oklahoma at the time. On November 15th of that year, a group of citizens decided to take action against what they saw as an unconstitutional national guard movement being run by Governor Sam Youngblood without any proper notice or vote from qualified members of the community. The Citizens’ Defense Force (CDF) was formed and began preparations for combat against what they thought were unauthorized elements within the national guard organization. After several months of skirmishes and fighting with noresults, on January 6th 1968 Governor Youngblood called a state of emergency which authorized martial law in Ottawa until further notice. Because there had never been such an emergency declaration in this town before, most people believed that something important had happened and no one knew what it could be. As news spread throughout Ottawa about this sudden event, many people who didn’t know how toATTLE started coming out into town to see if they could help out or even just talk to those who seemed like they might know something about what was going on. After some confusion ensued due to all of these new arrivals, it became clear that everyone who wanted information about what was going on wanted someone else dead or captured so they could tell theirajavers everything they knew (or at least enough so that someone other than Governor Youngblood would eventually learn). Eventually somebody got hold of a phonebook and started calling people who had known Mayor John Bemis since he’d been mayor since 1975 and asked them where he could find Congressman Bob Moffatt or maybe even Senator James Elam so he could talk to them instead about potential solutions while under martial law because nobody else knew anything! Eventually things calmed down a bit but not before another confrontation occurred when Captain Tom Hagerty from Topeka came into town with his unit looking for volunteers for his unit which wasn't actually scheduled to come until February 4th because his unit was deployed overseas at that point ( interestingly enough he's also mentioned multiple times throughout this paper ). When Captain Hagerty found out that there were only civilians here tryingto protect their town he turned tail and ran back home without fighting . This event shows just how divided our community really was during this time period when there seemed like everybody wanted something different done about things outside their control

The Ottawa National Guard was organized on May 10, 1861. They were first called the Kansas National Guard and then the Ottawa National Guard. The unit was originally mobilized for three months in November 1861 but they only served for a total of two months. In December 1861, they were again called up for three months but this time they served until September 1862. In October 1862, theywere mobilization once again and served until April 1863 when they reverted to their original name of the Kansas NationalGuard. In 1871, the unit changed their name to the Ottawa Regiment of Infantry and served until 1898 when they switched back to their original name of the Ottawa Regiment of Infantry. From 1899-1905, they also served as part of World War I as part of Canadian Corps A detachment with 2nd Brigade Royal Canadian Mounted Police Regiment

However, economic development stopped after the 1970s and Ottawa has since seen limited progress throughout its history. Today, Ottawa remains an unincorporated community with no official government designation.

The National Guard is a branch of the United States military that provides direct support to the President and his cabinet. The National Guard was created on September 16, 1792, when Congress passed an act authorizing the President to call forth all able-bodied male citizens of the United States who were not already in the militia for service during a time of war. These soldiers could be called up for any period of three months, but must have served at least six months before being considered again for duty. The first national guard units were organized on November 25, 1792. The Act provided for a system of rotation among state militias so that each state had an equal number of guardsmen available at any given time. Guardsmen could not be used in hostilities without their consent, but they could be summoned into service at will as long as they resided within their state. The first national guard regiment was raised on December 12, 1792.
The Ottawa, Kansas community was established in 1881. The town was named after the Ottawa River that flows through the area. The first settlers were farmers who moved from Illinois to this area to escape the harsh weather conditions back home. By 1902, the population of Ottawa had grown to around 100 people. In 1905, the town built its first school and by 1907, it had a small grocery store and post office. In 1912, Ottawa became a city and soon began growing with new businesses opening up. The population of Ottawa reached 350 people by 1915 and by 1920, it had increased to 500 people. During World War II, Ottawa played an important role in the war effort as it housed military recruits and served as a base for artillery operations. During this time period, the city also saw growth in its economy as businesses started manufacturing products such as radios, shoes and cars. After the war ended in 1945, Ottawa experienced another boom period as new businesses opened up and its population grew to 1,000 people by 1950. Today, there are still many businesses active in Ottawa which continues to grow with more potential future growth!
