In 1978, Newton Corporation merged with Peet's Coffee, which continued to roast its own beans until 1984. From 1984-1987, Newton Corporation was a subsidiary of Peet's Coffee USA. In 1987, Peet's Coffee USA spun off Newton Corporation into its own business entity. Newton Corporation continues to roast its own coffee today and is headquartered in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Newton, Kansas is a town in Dodge County, Kansas, United States. The population was 506 at the 2010 census. Newton is named after Isaac Newton and his wife, Mary. Newton was platted in 1872 by J.D. Newcomb and Wm H. Pritchard as part of the Hayden Township settlement. It was first called "Pine Creek" until 1882 when it became "Newton". In 1907 the name was changed to Dodge County when it was organized from parts of Haskell and Wichita counties.. The original business district in Newton included buildings on Main Street that remain today as the courthouse building (1872-1907), post office (1882-1987), Episcopal church (built 1892), schoolhouse ( built 1888), and general store (1896). The First National Bank Building still stands on Main Street north of the Courthouse property, east of which is an agricultural area for growing corn, beans, potatoes, etc. In 1924 a new high school was built south of town on land donated by banker Averil Hinton in memory of her parents who had died in 1918 while serving with World War I Army service near Paris, France. Construction started November 20th 1922 and completed May 3rd 1923; it replaced an earlier high school that had been destroyed by a fire three years earlier while being used as a barns storage facility for local farmers'. The new high school housed grades 9-12 until 1984 when they were moved to their present location across from the courthouse on Main Street west of the grocery store/cafeteria complex known today as Mrs.'s Pizza Place

During World War II, larger roasted coffees became available due to shortages caused by wartime rationing regulations. With increased demand came decreased quality, but this did not last long because smaller roasted coffees continued to be produced which appealed to consumers more than large-scale brands (such as Starbucks). After the war ended, smaller companies took advantage of technological advances such as automatedRoasting equipment which made it possible for them to produce high-quality small quantities of coffee without sacrificing quality or taste
