In 1981, Don Morse Jr.'s wife passed away and the business went through several ownership changes before it was sold to Bob Hodge who currently operates it as a small shop with three employees. Bob Hodge's family has run the shop for over 50 years and they continue to brew their own coffee beans and offer various other services such as customer service and marketing support services. The coffee shop has also played an important role in keeping Newton on its feet during times of economic recession by providing jobs for local people along with providing social activities for citizens of Newton throughout the winter months.

Newton, Kansas is a town in Geary County, Kansas, United States. The population was 997 at the 2010 census. Newton is located in the Wichita metropolitan area. Newton was founded in 1881 by citizens of Wyandotte County and Dodge City. It was named for Josiah Newton, a settler who arrived in 1868. The first school was built in 1881 and the first store opened in 1886. Newton had a railroad station on the Chicago & Omaha Railroad from 1904 to 1949. In 1907, Newton became the seat of Geary County after it was organized from parts of Wyandotte and Dodge City counties. A courthouse and jail were built in 1908; both are still standing. From 1912 to 1937, Newton had its own post office; however, it merged with Geary Post Office No. 1 on December 12, 1937 so that all mail sent to Newton would be sent through Geary Post Office No. 1 rather than being delivered to Newton itself twice before being forwarded to Wyandotte or Dodge City for Processing. Newton came under city control when Wichita Falls incorporated as a city on January 15, 1961; however, because of its small size it never achieved full independence from Wichita Municipal District No.. 5 until 1995 when it joinedthat district's central office—the newly created Shawnee Mission–Edwardsville department store annex—for processing of all federal government mail entering or leaving Wichita Falls through its doors since that time."
