Leawood, Kansas is a city in Geary County, Kansas, United States. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. The town was founded in 1881 by John A. Leawood and named for him. It was incorporated as a city in 1907. Leawood is located on the Wichita River near its confluence with the Arkansas River. Leawood is one of four cities in Geary County that are not part of the Wichita metropolitan area. It has a population of just over 1,100 people as of the 2010 census and has no downtown district or public transportation system to support its growing population outside of walking or biking to work or shopping downtown.
