Haysville is a town located in the U.S. state of Kansas. The population was 1,503 at the 2010 census and 2,022 at the 2013 estimate. It is part of Shawnee County. The village of Haysville was founded in 1878 and incorporated as a town in 1907. The first known inhabitants of Haysville were Native American traders and travelers who passed through the area on their way to or from Wichita, Kansas Territory. The first European visitors to Haysville were two men, Drury and Jameson, who came along with Gideon Wells in 1824. They built a cabin near the present day intersection of State Highway 16 and US-69 about four miles east of where Haysville now stands. A post office called "Haysville" was established in 1878, but it was discontinued when it became apparent that no one would want to live there because of lack of access to water supplies and transportation. In 1907, fearing that incorporation into a larger town might reduce its ability to offer infrastructure such as roads and water supplies necessary for growth, the village of Haysville voted against incorporation into an enlarged town because they felt that they had already done most (if not all) the groundwork for growth within their own borders – something which later proved to be accurate given that much growth took place within eastern Shawnee County subsequent to annexation by Shawnee City in 1995). In 1912-13 there were efforts by several farmers near Hutchins Creek Dam on Arkansas River (now Clearwater Lake) southwest of present day Walnut Hills Village ever since they could see potential development downriver including building docks for shipping goods upriver; however no success was achieved until 1913 when Elisha Cooke sent his son John Cooke (the future General John Fetterman) out as manager general agent for Hastings Land & Manufacturing Company with $2,000 capitalization power for developing this area–thus beginning what would become Hastings Land & Manufacturing Company's major involvement with land development throughout Shawnee County including erection/construction/maintenance/operation (later renamed Pratt’s Riverside Development Corporation) various bridges over Hutchinson Creek plus other interests such as agriculture, transportation etc., until putrefaction led them into receivership status in 1966 before being reorganized under current name Pratt’s Riverside Development Corporation today John Costello succeeded his father as general agent after his death in 1938; during his tenure Hastings Land & Manufacturing Company developed numerous shopping centers around Walnut Hills Village including one just north of present day Hawkins Drive off US-169 between Lenox Road and Snyder Boulevard which became anchored by Sears stores while also serving as home depot; also demolished circa 1984 were three brick warehouses at corner Warsaw Street Southwest OF Exchange Alley between State Highway 169WSW AND Businessmans Row West During World War II HaysVILLE served consecutively duty training Camp Dodge Army Air Field personnel then returning home via busloads en route Midland Airport - Tulsa OK Dec 1945 thru Jan 1946 both camps had similar barracks buildings used mostly ground floor classrooms open 24 hrs per week 4 main types each camp held: cooks mess hall dispensary clinic single men officers sergeants majors corporals Eames Wagon Co Ltd Truck Store

Hays, a railroad magnate and local landowner. It was moved to its current location in 1907. The town of Haysville was founded by John D. Hays on December 12, 1873, after he acquired 160 acres (72 ha) of land east of Wichita on the Kansas Pacific Railroad. The new town was located on the north side of Smith Creek and consisted of six stores, two hotels, three churches, four schoolhouses and one mill. In 1907 it became part of Wichita along with other towns that had been created within the Wichita city limits since 1890 when Wichita annexed parts of Butler and Shawnee counties
Haysville is located in the U.S. state of Kansas and is part of the Wichita Metropolitan Statistical Area. As of 2010, Haysville had a population of over 71,000 people. The early history of Haysville includes the arrival of Europeans in 1795 as traders searching for new land to explore after their journey from Spain to America following independence from Spain. In 1803, General James Wilkinson established an agricultural colony at Haysville known as Santa Anna's Colony which was named for General Santa Anna who had helped lead Mexico into independence from Spanish rule in 1819. In 1824, Colonel John Bock founded a town named Fort Leavenworth near present day Wichita Falls, Texas on the east bank of the Arkansas River opposite Haysville. The town grew rapidly and by 1830 it included a school, jail, Post Office and other public buildings. In 1835, the town was renamed Fort Dodge after General David Dixon (1787-1858), United States Army officer who served in Mexican War (1846-48) and during Indian Wars (1855-60). In 1851, Fort Dodge became a military post with jurisdiction over all west Kansas including present day Haysville. On December 1st that year Union Major George Armstrong Custer arrived at Ft Dodge with his cavalry unit to attack US Cavalry Regimentnumbered 27 under Brigadier General John Pemberton across Rivers Platte and Little Platte rivers while being escorted by militia forces under Captain David Wilcox on horseback night before Christmas Eve 1850 miles southwest from Independence Rock Missouri on Surveys 2nd Regiment American Volunteer Infantry led by First Lieutenant Augustus Herron seven miles due south on Roanoke Creek about 12 A.M November 25th 1850 just east or southeast of present day Wichita Falls TX along North Road leading northward towards present day Wichita State University campus northeast corner then westerly direction down said road about 1/4 mile past said university campus crossing Roanoke Creek just east or southeast ofpresent day Prairie View A&M University northwest corner then easterly direction along said road until intersecting I-70 approximately 10 miles southwest from Independence Rock MO Haysville saw its first commercial development when J J King & Son opened up a dry goods store at 5 N Main Street in 1880 followed by Lumberjacks hardware store opened up at 101 W Main Street in 1890 which later became Darden's Supermarket chain Famous for selling cigarettes beginning 1955
