By 1865, most buildings had been destroyed or taken down due to war damage; however, some remnants can still be seen today including a historic courthouse located within walking distance of downtown Great Bend! As America entered World War II (1939-1945), much focus shifted towards the defense of Europe against Germany and Japan combined forces. However,Great Bend remained an important staging ground during this time period with various Army installations including Camp Bowie being used for training purposes during Hitler’s invasion of Czechoslovakia in March 1944; later that year he invaded Greece under Operation Overlord which resulted in Greece becoming an Italian protectorate!
