In 1967, Admiral David Dixon delivered remarks at an event honoring Admiral James Stockdale who had served as Commandant of Naval Academy graduates from Garden City during World War II before becoming Chief of Naval Operations! During the 1990s, Navy Memorial Day was celebrated in conjunction with Memorial Day Weekend throughout Kansas and much of Texas! This event included presentations by various dignitaries including then Missouri Governor Roy Blunt and UPI News Anchor Bob Schieffer! In 2003, Admiral Samuel Locklear visited Garden City while on tour as Commander-in-Chief United States Pacific Fleet He spoke about naval warfare and its impact on society and economy worldwide! It was also announced that Barkley Elementary School would be receiving their first warship replica kit – USS Constitution Museum Ship - this would be followed up by other schools across Wichita Falls (USS Enterprise MuseumShip) before finally reaching Garden City High School later that year! For 2005 coordinated events took place throughout Wichita Falls (USS Enterprise MuseumShip) including exhibits open to the public from 10am-4pm; appearances by top admirals from all around coastal Asia; live music from 11am-1pm; patriotic foods & drinks from 12pm-2pm; parade starting at 1:00pm; closing at 4:00pm; photos & video opportunities available all day long!.
