Maga Coffee began as a small family-owned business with only two beans per pound delivered to local homes. This allows for a high quality, but also complex flavor profile. Maga coffee has been used for centuries as an infusion drink in the region. The first mention of maga coffee was made by Ibn Battuta in his book, The World’s Heritage: A Description of All Things Beautiful and Miserable (1498). He noted that there were people living near the town of Kidal who brewed this type of coffee. He also mentioned that it was used as an early form of espresso. In 1912, Portuguese explorer Manuel de Souza Cunha explored the region around Kidal and discovered a large number of muselmans working on plantations near them. he also found some stores selling maga coffee. At this time, maga coffee was being sold as a cheap alternative to more expensive types of coffee. In 1922, Ethiopian emperor Haile Selassie I decided to import large quantities of maga beans from Brazil to help improve Ethiopia’s economy. This led to increased demand for maga beans and their production began to increase rapidly across Ethiopia. Coffeyville is a town in Sedgwick County, Kansas, United States. The population was 1,471 at the 2010 census. It was incorporated in 1867. Coffeyville is named for General John A. Coffey, who led Union troops during the American Civil War and also served as a U.S. Representative from Kansas. Coffeyville was founded by George Wiegand and his brother David in 1867 when they came to this area from Overland City, Kansas. In 1870 George Wiegand built the first house on what is now Coffeyville's Main Street. In 1871 Joseph Fenton bought land at what is now corner of First and Second Streets and built a sawmill there. In 1875 Daniel McCoy donated land east of town to be used as a school district square; that square still exists today (originally named Park Square). In 1881 Coffeyville had a schoolhouse, Methodist church, Baptist church, post office, store, blacksmith shop and two stores- one operated by Jno Haines and the other run by Wm Haines- both men from Overland City who had come to work for their father-in-law JR Haines in this new community established by these three people: G Wiegand (the founder), Daniel McCoy ( donatee) and Joseph Fenton ( builder). In 1886 James Ewing organized the first farmers' market in Sedgwick County when he set up an association to sell eggs raised on his farm south of town nearpresent day Papillion Road/Upper Canada Road intersection On October 3rd 1886 James Ewing organized "The Pioneer Female Association", which sold milk products from its cow pastures along Upper Canada Road between present day Papillion Road/Upper Canada Road intersection and Interstate 24 north of Sedgwick County limits
