This program was known as “the Friendship Express” and it allowed American military personnel of other countries to fly training missions with American pilots under operational control of their respective governments. The planes were used for aerial refueling and combat operations against ground targets in Korea and Vietnam. On July 24, 1957, Atchison Naval Air Station received its final navy deployment gift when it received an F7H-1 Dolphin Jetfighter Aircraft from the United States Marine Corps for use by NAS Antelope Hills Airport near Tucson, Arizona. This plane served as NAS Antelope Hills’ primary jet fighter squadron from 1958 until its retirement in 1984. During this time period, NAS Antelope Hills also operated two NACA research airplane units which were equipped with advanced technology for conducting scientific research at high altitudes: The X-15 Dynaplane flying Research Plane Unit 2 (RP2)and The Aermacchi SF-6P Special Flying Laboratory flying Research Plane Unit 3 (RP3). These units flew over 4500 flights totaling more than 10000 miles covering over seventy thousand square miles airspace during their tenure at NAS Antelope Hills."

Atchison, Kansas is a city in the U.S. state of Kansas, located on the southern border of Wichita County and the eastern edge oför Weld County. As of 2010, it had a population of 146,883. Atchison was founded in 1847 as the capital of Territory Kansas and became an incorporated town in 1851. The current city was formed from parts of Wichita and Oskaloosa townships on November 2, 1907 by merger of those two municipalities. The merged townships had a total population of 41,476 at the time; Wichita had a population of 66,906 and Oskaloosa had a population of 9,812. The first settlers to what is now Atchison were pioneers who arrived during the early years following Indian Removal in 1854-1855. They included John Armstrong and his brother James who founded Armstrong's Store at present day First Avenue and 10th Street in 1854. James later married Lillie King who also came to Independence soon after that year to start her own store here with her husband Edward King (the brother-in-law of James). As Iowa Territory began to form within Kansas during the late 1840s, residents near Topeka petitioned for incorporation into what would become Atchison on April 15, 1847 when territorial officials convened at United States Judge George Brown's home west side Main Street between Seventh and Eighth Streets in downtown Topeka for this purpose only - no vote was taken on whether or not to incorporate as such! On July 4 following its creation as part ofKansas Territory under President Ulysses S Grant’s executive order #1087 (published August 21st), Atchison became an incorporated town upon passage by both Houses Of The Kansas Legislature on October 1st – one day shy then finally becoming one hundred percent independent just four days prior! Just over two decades later – on November 2nd 1907 – when Wichita & Oskaloosa townships merged into Atchison proper through annexation (#3118), it became yet another completely separate municipality with its own government headed by Mayor Elmer Haines – making it one complete community which continues today even though portions have since been annexed back into Wichita County & Olathe City respectively! It should be noted that while there are many significant events which occurred within Atchison’s borders throughout these many years including key moments like Orville Wright’s famed Kitty Hawk balloon flight over Buffalo Bayou just east side First Avenue back on May 12th 1909 or Union Pacific Railroad construction along Main Street across Tenth Street towards Third Avenue circa 1912 or major civic happenings like AYCE (now known as Kiowa Community College) opening their doors way back in 1951 or first African American students enrolling at nearby West Side High School here circa 1957 all receive some level mention here nonetheless; much smaller but equally important individual contributions could also easily be made without getting too bogged down so let us move forward… In 1945 local farmers discovered coal seams inside what is now downtown area south side First avenue between Ninth & Tenth Streets! This discovery led directly to AtchISON becoming home to Midwestern Coal Company where industry continued until 1978 when gas discoveries increased production leading eventuallyto closure/demolitionof many old midwestern mines etc.; resultingin decreased demand for coal which consequently affected businesses&jobs locally too!). In fact most all prior coal production took place inland adjacent surrounding rural areas well outside ANYTHING EVER connected remotely with downtownAtCHISON!! Nowadays you can still find plenty faint traces remainingof early pioneer days right around corner NW corner 10th St from main street! In 1849, Atchison became an important focal point on the Great Western Railroad when it was completed from St Louis to Wichita Falls (now Wichita). This transportation artery helped fuel rapid growth throughout much of western Colorado andKansas during this period; at times goods could be transported quickly across state lines without having to wait for weeks or months for transport via wagon or stagecoach. A successful effort was made by local businessmen to establish a bazaar in downtown Atchison within two years of opening; this initiative led to increased trade throughout much of central Kansas Territory at that time. One result of this growing commerce was an increase in population – by 1850 AtchISON had reached 1025 residents compared to just 200 residents only six years earlier! Despite initial success due to these stimulating factors - including generous land grants from federal officials - chronic financial problems soon developed which limited future development opportunities for both men and women alike (although many similar entrepreneurial efforts did eventually succeed). It is interesting to note that while business failures were common among early settlers who attempted to establish themselves independently within what would become known as “the frontier” - especially those who lacked formal agricultural or mercantile experience - widespread poverty ensued initially until large-scale governmental assistance arrived later on into the 19th century courtesy of Manifest Destiny policies championed by Ulysses S Grant et al..
