Navy Deployed Gift History in Arkansas City, Kansas began with the organization of the Navy Department's Fleet Auxiliary in 1917. The Fleet Auxiliary was formed to provide support for the Navy by purchasing goods and supplies necessary for Naval operations. This support grew into a full-time service when the Navy Department decided in 1933 to establish its own Supply Depot within the naval station at Little Rock. The first Commander, Fleet Auxiliary at Little Rock was Rear Admiral Harry W. Pritchard who served from 1933 until his retirement in 1942. The Fleet Auxiliary continued to operate at Little Rock until 1951 when it moved to Fort Worth, Texas where it remains an integral part of naval personnel and civilian life today. The history of this important division of our military is also reflective of our country's changing landscape as more and more exercises are conducted outside of Norfolk, Virginia which is home to the Defense Materiel Agency (DMA). When DMA was established in 1961, it became clear that a navy stationed gift history would be necessary in order to maintain continuity between DoD and other Federal agencies. Accordingly, on November 1st, 1961 Rear Admiral John Foulke assumed command of Ft Worth's Fleet Auxiliary Center which had been previously known as Terminal 2 Marine Corps Air Station Elmendorf AFB III after its predecessor Naval Base Fort Worth (NBCSA) - later renamed Arlington MD - closed following World War II hostilities ended. In honor of Rear Admiral Foulke’s service during World War II and subsequent commands at NBCSA we renamed Terminal 2Marine Corps Air Station Elmendorf AFB III after him on September 1st 1973 as part of a larger program across all DoD installations throughout America which commemoration efforts continue to this day. Arkansas City, Kansas is a city in the U.S. state of Kansas. The population was 975 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wichita metropolitan area. The first settlers in Arkansas City were farmers who arrived in 1854 and built a log cabin on the present-day site of the city. By 1870, they had organized into a town society and begun to build schools and other civic facilities. In 1873, they named their new community after American Revolutionary War general George Rogers Clark because he had visited them there that year and recommended that they establish such a settlement near Topeka, Kansas. The town began to grow rapidly; by 1910, it had reached 1,500 residents. In 1916, the United States Congress passed an act annexing Hutchinson County (then part of south-central Kansas) to form Wichita County so that Arkansas City would be within its jurisdiction for all legal purposes. However, this annexation did not take effect until 1918; as a result, Arkansas City continued to exist as an unincorporated community under its own name until 1921 when it became one of several cities consolidated into Wichita from three separate counties during Reformulation Period (1925–1929). During World War II, Arkansas City played an important role in the war effort due to its location on military bases throughout centralKansas: Hutchinson Air Force Base (now known as Offutt Air Force Base), Overland Park Army Depot and Waverly Heights Naval Weapons Station operated out of the city limits at various times during World War II; these installations produced large quantities of munitions which were used by both Nazi Germany and Japan while they occupied Japan during World War II. During Reconstruction Period (1925–29), much progress was made in developing Arkansas City including the erection of many fine public buildings such as government buildings located on First Street between Market and Washburn Streets; these structures are still standing today along with numerous other municipal amenities which have been carefully maintained over time including maintaining water service through underground pipelines bringing potable water directly to citizens’ homes without going through local municipalities; providing education opportunities for citizens through various school districts located throughout downtown areas; developing specialties within various businesses such as retail trade/commerce across Main Street between Washburn and First Streets running concurrently with two large department stores located east on Main Street adjacent to Kane County Fairgrounds also experiencing rapid growth during this period also resulting in numerous additions/adjacents like homebuilders Kenneth Company & Bros.,Curtis Corporation & Co., Phelps Dodge & Sons., et al.; all contributing materially towards continuously expanding downtown business district which has since attracted additional office spaceoccupying whole blocks along First Street between State Capitol Building northward continuing eastward onto main avenue extending northerly beyond original limits upward toward Interstate 70

Arkansas City, Kansas is a small town in the US state of Kansas. It is located in Bonita County, about 25 miles (40 km) southeast of Topeka and 50 miles (80 km) northeast of Wichita. The population was 2,564 at the 2010 census. The first permanent resident to Arkansas City was John White who arrived there in 1854 from Illinois. He built a log cabin on the same site where he later founded what is now called White Settlement. In 1857, he married Rachelle Cushing and they started a new settlement near present-day Wichita Falls, Texas. They had six children: three boys and four girls. After John White's death in 1865, his widow continued to operate the settlement until it was abandoned by 1860 due to lack of water and food supplies. In 1861, James Hoyer came to Arkansas City from Council Bluffs, Iowa with his family and began building a farmstead on land that would become the town square today. In 1863, he married Sarah Halliday and the couple started another farmstead east of present day Arkansas City on what became known as Hoyer's Prairie Road. By 1870, they had grown enough to open a store which served as their main business until 1898 when they merged with neighboring Topeka to form Topeka & Arkansas City Railway Company Limited which still operates as an independent company today with its own downtown area complete with multiple restaurants/bars/cafes/stores/. In 1907sawa Hoyer died suddenly at home while pregnant; her husband soon followed suit two years later after buying back their share in T&A for $2 million dollars! At this point both towns took control of their own local affairs through an act known as "The Union Act" which regulated commerce between them for all future times! The city limits were expanded southward along State Highway 314 by annexing parts of unincorporated Sheridan County includingpresent day Springdale; however some homes remained within community boundaries unchanged until well into the 21st century when they were sold off or demolished during construction projects associated with major highway projects such as I-35W bypass or Kansas State Capitol Complex expansion project! DowntownArkansasCity retains many characteristics typical of smalltown America such as farmers markets Saturdays throughout summer months and several convenience stores dotting Main Street.; also found are numerous churches dating back to pioneer days such as First Baptist Church which still meets inside original building; post office--still operating strong since late 1800s serving not just locals but also distant travelers too!--handles mail for most residents; large municipal garage provides needed storage space for many items generated by small town life like recycling materials etc.; high school--same name since 1909 serves students grades 9-12 providing opportunities for fine arts education including music production/performance classes; Boys & Girls Club offers teen activities ranging from sports camps to dances

By 1950, Arkansas City had fallen behind other cities in Kansas in terms of economic development. Since then, it has regained some of its former prominence as a cultural and tourist destination but remains struggling to maintain its status as a major metropolis.
