In the early 1800s, Andover, Kansas was a small town that produced some of the best coffee in America. The town was founded by Nicholas Fenton and his wife Clarissa in 1854. At first, coffee was brewed only for their own use and for sale to other local businesses. However, as time went on, Andover realized that it could produce more coffee than any other small town in America and so decided to sell its beans to larger grocery stores. By 1905, Andover had become one of the largest retail outlets for coffee in America. In 1916, Fenton died and is buried at Andover Cemetery. Today, Andover Coffee remains a local favorite among locals and tourists alike who enjoy sampling the finest beans from their hometown’s roastery.

The first post office in Andover was established on January 6, 1880. The community of Andover grew rapidly following the completion of the Atchison & Topeka Railway in 1882. A school built in 1883 served the town until it closed in 1907. A new school opened in 1908 and continued to serve the town until it closed too soon in 1915. Andover experienced some growth during World War II as many people from nearby Wichita moved there to help with production at munitions plants or service jobs at naval bases around the world. During the war years (1941-1945), Andover had a total population of 10,711 residents including 521 males and 724 females. In 1945, when Wichita became an independent city, Andover lost its status as a rural municipality and reverted back to Sedgwick County government control; however, its municipal boundaries remain unchanged today. In 2000, Andovers employment base shifted from manufacturing to services due to deregulation of central business districts across America which led to an increase in unemployment within Sedgwick County overall; however this has reversed since then as services have been regained as the primary economic driver for Andovers residents since 2003."Sedgwick county's top five fastest-growing towns," KSD report. In recent years there has been an attempt by some members of local government to promote oil shale mining within town limits although no such mine has yet been developed. The population density for both 2008 and 2010 were lower than that of Dodge City but higher than Topeka which made it one of several communities located along Interstate 35 that have seen stagnation or decline over time despite rapid population growth during this period.Accordingly more recent Census data shows that while Dodge Citys population increased by 50% between 2000 and 2010 while only 3% occurred within Town Limits itself between 2008-2010;

Andover, Kansas is a small town in the U.S. state of Kansas that was founded in 1872 by John Andover and his family. The town has a population of about 1,100 people as of the 2010 census. Andover is located on the banks of the Arkansas River in Clay County, east of Topeka. Andover began as a farmstead on land donated by John Andover and his wife Eliza. The first building built in Andover was a log cabin called "The Gables", which was erected in 1872. In 1881, Andover became an incorporated village with a post office and two stores. In 1900, the name Ofaer changed to Andover after John Anderton's death. In 1907, there were four schools within one mile (2 km) of Andover: one for boys at Newington Baptist Church; one for girls at First Baptist Church; one for boys and girls together at Methodist Episcopal Church; and one for boys only at Orange Grove Schoolhouse. The school system was disbanded in 1923 when all but two students were transferred to Topeka public schools following the merger of Topeka and Wichita public schools into One District School District (ODSD). In 1948, local residents voted to establish an oil well near Byersville which led to production from the town's wells beginning that year. As production increased, so too did traffic around town due to its proximity to oil rigs operating along the Arkansas River bottomland where crude oil was produced from shale formations south of Topeka
