Waukee is a town in Johnson County, Iowa, United States. The population was 1,841 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Johnson County. Waukee was founded in 1867 by settlers from Fayetteville, Arkansas. Waukee is located at (40.564924, -94.748719). According to the 2010 census, it has a total area of , of which is land and (1%) is water. The town began as a small community on the west side of what are now Waukee and Liberty High School campuses. In 1870s two men named Hirschfeld and Stratton built a log cabin in present-day Waukee on their farmstead about one mile east of present-day downtown Waukee. In 1871 Hirschfeld donated land for a new courthouse and court house with lots that still stand today near Center Street and Washington Avenue in downtown Waukee; this building served as the county courthouse until 1907 when it was replaced by the current courthouse which stands on Capitol Drive northeast of downtown Waukee today. The first post office was established in Waukee on December 12, 1872, by Lula Jourdan Smith with the name "Fenton". The name changed to "Waukesha" on February 17, 1875 after becoming known as a center for agricultural production due to its rich soil quality. On November 3rd 1880 US Congressman James Kapp brought his family to live in what would become known as "Waukesha" during his Congressional campaign tour through Iowa; he had been inspired to come to Iowa because he believed that farming could be developed there if done correctly according to principles learned during his travels through Europe where agriculture had been extensively studied due to its importance then as it is now throughout much of the world including parts of America! On May 11th 1886 issue #1 published an article entitled “The Origin Of The Name ‘Waukesha’” written by George Pemberton who wrote fromage sativa seeds while living in Stuttgart am Neckar GermanyAbstract: Mr Pemberton became interested early one morning last fall while walking along American Falls outside his home village Schleicherstadt am Rhein where he noticed some signs that something unusual might have occurred—a great waterfall without any visible drops or cascades just occurring suddenly out of nowhere! After perusing several local newspapers which reported nothing similar happening around this time within sight or hearingdistance he finally put together enough evidence together from various acquaintances back home who could swear they had seen same thing happen before also leaving behind food scraps found at base of falls just like those reports claimed back then! When inquiries were made outside Germany about whether or not such reports were true German farmers were more than happy to share their knowledge knowing full well these stories must be true given how influential newspapers were then! Consequently “Waukesha” became firmly entrenched among Iowans long before people even realized it existed let alone started using it officially!! To this day many people hereabouts still referto themselves simply as “Residents Of Waukesha” insteadof using formal names!!!!!

Waukee is a city in Iowa, United States. The population was 9,711 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Waukee County. The first European settlers to live in what is now Waukee came from Germany and Austria in 1839. They were farmers who arrived to help start up a new country that would become America. In 1847, German immigrants founded the town of Altoona, which later became Waukee. The first post office was established in Altoona on December 6, 1847. The community grew rapidly and by 1860 there were over 100 residents living in Altoona and Waukee combined. There were also two churches and a school in those early days. In 1881, the Burlington Railroad began construction through central Iowa to carry goods to markets outside of Iowa City and Dubuque. Because of this development, both Altoona and Waukee quickly became thriving cities with their own businesses and services available to their citizens! During World War II, many local soldiers served on staffs or commanded companies during the war effort across Iowa; including John Gorman (the only black military officer stationed within Muscatine County at that time) who fought with Company C 4th Infantry Regiment (African American). While serving as Company Commander at Camp Dodge duringOperation Torch he contracted malaria- which led him to be invalided home for three months before finally being discharged as medically unfit due to his condition- but did not forget about his countrymen serving overseas!
