The Iowa Coast Guard Station in Waukee, Iowa was founded on December 8, 1903. It was the first coast guard station in the state of Iowa. The station was located at the mouth of the Des Moines River and served as a warning center for shipping traffic around the Great Lakes. In 1912, the coast guard station moved to its present location on Depot Street in Waukee.
Waukee is a city in Waukesha County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 20,622 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Waukesha County. The town was established in 1855 and named after Waukee Creek. The first settler in what would become Waukee was James J. Hinson, who purchased land from the Winnebago people near present-day Milwaukee on October 6, 1855. He built a log cabin and started fur trading with the Indians in that area. In March of 1857, Hinson married into an Indian family and began to clear land for his new home on Whatcom Prairie east of modern-day Milwaukee. His wife's mother brought over some settlers to help him build their cabins; these early settlers were known as the "Waukee pioneers." In 1860, when Waukee became a village under state law (it had not been organized as a municipality until 1871), it elected its first mayor and council members by popular vote rather than through nomination by party leaders or landowners. This led to greater debate about government powers within village boundaries which helped foster later controversies over membership in organizations like the American Legion and other volunteer groups during World War I and II. In 1862, Steamboat Road (later State Route 24) crossed Iowa River near present-day downtown Waukee; this also made access to present-day Milwaukee easier for traders and travelers west of the river. By 1865, much of what is now downtown Waukee had been developed as part of a large farm called White Cloud Land Company; this area included parts of today's north side of town between Plymouth Avenue and Market Street eastward to Higgins Boulevard southward to Interstate 94). As businesses grew along State Route 24 in downtown Waukee during this time period – someBeginners' Hardware Store (1892), National Cash Register & Telegraph Office (1910), & Department Store (1915), among others – development prices for lots became quite high relative to wages available at that time within many rural communities across America due primarily to population growth rates experienced within those areas during this same time period[1]. From 1865 until 1938 there were no changes whatsoever with regard to zoning regulations or property values affecting most aspects associated with downtown business districts throughout all but one year during that tenuous stretch – 1923[2]! A totalofnineteen properties changed hands between 1893-1978,[3], outshining any other real estate market conditionsocaptioned 'the Great Depression' era such as deflationary hyperinflation[4],[5]. The Coast Guard has been providing protection to the United States coastline for over 60 years. Their mission is to keep our seas clean and safe, and their gift history reflects that goal. Since then, many innovation projects have been undertaken by both the Coast Guard and NOAA in order to keep our oceans healthy for future generations. Some examples include:the creation ofthe National Marine Fisheries Service's Coastal Zone Management program which helps manage ocean fisheries; establishment ofthe National Estuarine Research Reserve System; development ofa global network of tide gauges across America so that we can better monitor coastal erosion; construction ofa $1 billion floating dock system at Brooklyn Bridge which will allow us more access to vital waterfront assets; establishmentofa new marine research facility at John F Kennedy Atoll in Hawaii which will help investigate climate change effects on coastal communities around America; support for drone technology which is being used increasingly for maritime security purposes; support for autonomous fixed-wing aircrafts which are being used more frequently for search-and-rescue missions than ever before.; installationofan offshore wind farm in Brownsville TX ;and much more! All these projects demonstrate how important it is for government officials working together with industry stakeholders – be it developers or fishermen –to ensure that our coasts remain open and safe for everyone involved.
