The company became a major player in the coffee industry, manufacturing and selling its own beans, as well as purchasing beans from other companies. In the 1920s, Ottumwa began importing Italian coffee beans, which led to a rise in quality and popularity of the product. In the 1970s, the company merged with another larger coffee company, Pabst Brewing Corporation.
Ottumwa, Iowa is a town in Johnson County, Iowa, United States. The population was 961 at the 2010 census. It lies on the Missouri River. The first settler in Ottumwa was John Haggerty in 1847. The town was platted in 1852 by A. W. Price and named for Julia Cady Stanton, wife of American abolitionist William Lloyd Garrison. In 1883, the Ottumwa Depot was built to serve as a transportation hub on the new Omaha-Lincoln Highway connecting Chicago and St Louis; it closed operations in 1984. In 1916, Ottumwa became one of the original 102 townships of Johnson County; it remained an unincorporated community until its incorporation as a city in 1951. In that year, it became home to both the University of Nebraska–Lincoln (UNL) and Iowa State University (ISU). UNL relocated to Ames after World War II and ISU followed suit afterIowa State's purchase of Drake University's campus from the Morrill Land Grant College in 1912. Today, much of what once constituted Ottumwa has been demolished or replaced by newer buildings; however, some notable landmarks still stand including: City Hall which served as the initial meeting place for city government when it was incorporated as a city; Richards Auditorium which is used today for events such as concerts and basketball games; Ladd Arena which hosted high school football until 1997; and South Park Elementary School which is now home to east side High School students before they are transferred to west side High School near Interstate 25 when they reach their junior high school years
Small batch coffee first began to be produced in the early 1800s. The first small batch coffee was made by a man named Nicholas-Jacques Conte and his wife Jeanne-Antoinette de Bourbon. They brewed two cups of coffee each morning, then stored the beans in a jar for later. The couple started a small business called La Maison du café conseil, which served single serve coffee from their house. In 1824, they opened a second location, called L’Atelier des Deux Cafés, which also served Single Serve Coffee from their house. The popularity of small batch coffee grew as people began to find it more convenient and affordable than commercial grade coffee. With the help of marketing campaigns, such as “One cup per day!” people were able to discover and appreciate this unique form of caffeine delivery. By 1830, small batch coffee had become so popular that several factories began manufacturing it specifically for retail sale. This gave smallbatch Coffee its current market share and continues to produce high quality products today.

Ottumwa, Iowa is a small town in the U.S. state of Iowa. It was founded in 1855 by Swiss immigrants, and has been located in the Ottumwa County seat of Ottumwa since then. The population was 5,811 at the 2010 census. The first settler in what is now Ottumwa County was Peter Daggett, who arrived on horseback from Illinois on July 4, 1855. He named his new land "Ottumwa" after his birthplace, Otter Creek Township in Switzerland. In 1859, Wm. H., son of Jesse H., came to what is now Ottumwa County and claimed part of the eastern section of present-day Ottumwabassee Township; his family name became Daggett thereafter. In 1907, George Fenton bought 6 acres (2 km²) of land east of present-day Ottumwabassee for $10 from Mrs. Anna Lyle Fenton and erected a cabin thereon which he called "Fenton's Cabin". He farmed it for many years before selling it to Gustavus Boren in 1925 for $3 per acre ($105/km²). Boren developed it into what is today known as Boren Parkland subdivision which he purchased from Mrs. Cilla Schieffer in 1951 for $5 per acre (253/km²). From 1923 until its sale to the City of Ottumwa in 1954, Boren's Parkland was within present-day downtown Ottumwabassee boundaries; however, when that area became city limits due to growth within the city limits since then – including annexation by neighboring cities – Boren's Parkland ceased to be part of downtown OTUMWABASSEE and became an independent municipality with its own government and school district! The post office at nearby Davenport opened on October 1st,[1] 1865,[2] serving residents along both banks of the Des Moines River as far north as Burlington[3][4] and south as Dubuque[5]. On November 30th,[6][7] Abraham Lincoln signed legislation establishing a territorial government for Iowa under United States troops stationed at Fort Dodge; therefore, on December 15th,[8] Davenport Postmaster General James Purdy wired President Abraham Lincoln asking if any mail could be sent through Davenport to Fort Dodge because "the mail boat cannot come upriver".[9][10] That same day Governor John Aiken convened a meeting at Council Bluffs where representatives from all twelve counties represented were appointed to form a Waterloo District Judicial Committee charged with making recommendations regarding justice issues statewide.[11][12][13][14], one which would eventually result in establishment of the Buena Vista Justice System! On January 3rd,[15]: Gouverneur Morris drafted an ordinance establishing an agricultural fair entitled "Iowa Agricultural Fair & Village Show", which took place annually at McCormick Square beginning on July 1st[16]: this fair attracted visitors from throughout western Iowa and northern Illinois alike who would bring their crops home Converting this event into an annual business opportunity proved difficult but not impossible given how much trade occurred between these regions during this time period!
