Nancy was born in 1787 in Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania and she came to the United States with her parents in 1825. The first post office at Oskaloosa was established on July 8, 1830. The town of Oskaloosa was incorporated as a village on November 15, 1840. On February 21, 1851, the towns of Kinnickinnic andowney were merged into Oskaloosa. On October 7, 1865, the town of Oskaloosa became a city within the city limits of Des Moines.
