One such business is Jack & Jill’s Café, which has been operating since 1967 on East State street. Additionally, they offer several unique products including artisanal cookies and brownies! North Liberty, Iowa is a small town in Polk County, Iowa, United States. The population was 2,362 at the 2010 census. North Liberty is one of the smallest towns in Iowa and it has only 1 store and 1 post office. It has a small school district that serves grades kindergarten through eighth grade. The only other businesses in North Liberty are two restaurants and a gas station. The first settler in North Liberty was John Stephenson who came to the area in 1872. In 1876, Adolph Wagner settled here with his family. There were no permanent residents until after World War II when many people moved into the town due to its good schools and available jobs opportunities. The post office closed on December 15th, 2009 because of lack of mail volume from the community.

North Liberty is a town in Johnson County, Iowa, United States. The population was 2,569 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Des Moines–West Des Moines Metropolitan Statistical Area. North Liberty was founded in 1867 by George H. Smith and his brother-in-law James Wetherbee. The community was named for North Liberty Township, in which it was located. In 1881, North Liberty voted to become a city and received its charter from the Iowa Legislature on November 14th of that year. On December 4th of that year, Mayor Oscar Sprague dedicated the new City Hall building which still stands today after being built in just seventy days with local hard work and donations from citizens. The city experienced rapid growth during the early years of its existence with a population increase of over 200 percent between 1880 and 1890 alone! However, due to an ale scandal that rocked the city in 1893 (a result of prohibition), North Liberty's reputation as a safe haven for liquor sales began to fall behind other cities within Johnson County. This led to an increased focus on agricultural production and development in North Liberty throughout much of the 20th century; culminating in its current status as one of the most rural towns within Iowa’s capital city area! Today, North Liberty is known for its warm summer weather and vibrant cultural opportunities; both which make it an ideal place to call home whether you are looking for easy access to job markets or simply enjoy some peace and quiet while living close enough to experience all that South Central Iowa has to offer!
In 1851, the area that is now North Liberty was part of the Iowa Territory. The territory was created from parts of Minnesota, Nebraska and Kansas. In 1854, the Iowa Territorial Legislature approved a bill to create a town in what is now North Liberty. The name of the town was chosen by members of the legislature and it was first called "Tabor." The town was founded on April 12, 1854, by General John A. Fremont and his United States Volunteers. The town had a population of about seventy-five people. The first school in North Liberty was built in 1855. In 1861, Confederate forces invaded Iowa and forced President Abraham Lincoln to call up all U.S. troops for duty in Iowa City. On November 25th, 1861, North Liberty became the capital of Iowa Territory when it became an independent state under Union rule after the Civil War ended. In 1865, North Liberty joined Des Moines as an incorporated city with a population over one thousand people
