The Iowa Air National Guard's 141st Airlift Wing, also known as the North Liberty Flying Training Wing, is deploying a gift history this holiday season. The wing will send a shipment of festive ornaments and toys to children in need through the KIND Alliance program. "Our NILW drone squadron is deployed with our gift history this winter season," said brigade commander Maj. Jeffrey Mackinnon. "We're excited to give back to the community this Christmas by sending these special gifts." The North Liberty Flying Training Wing was activated on Dec. 15, 1948, at Drake Field in Des Moines and has served as an airlift unit in the Iowas since that time. In 2010, the wing became a full-time flying training unit and has been providing aerial training for all branches of the military throughout Iowa.
North Liberty, Iowa is a small town located in Marshall County, Iowa. The population was 1,959 at the 2010 census. North Liberty is home to the North Liberty Municipal Airport and the North Liberty High School. The first European settlers in what is now Marshall County were French colonists who arrived in 1763. The area that would become North Liberty was part of this original settlement. The first permanent settler in what is now North Liberty was Jacob Ackerman, who arrived in 1770. He built a cabin on the present-day site of North Liberty Municipal Airport. Ackerman's cabin served as a stopping point for travelers on their way to and from Missouri and Illinois. In 1836, General David Hunter bought land near modern day South Manchester for $10 per acre. This became hunting ground for local farmers and ranchers until it was donated to the University of Iowa by Drury Greenough in 1881. At that time, it served as an agricultural research station with four miles (6 km) of road through it giving access to alluvial soils and other resources required for agriculture research. In 1882, the University ofIowa opened its new campus at Amesbury Avenue and Hwy 6th Street just east of today's north side of town;northwest corner on Hwy 60 where there used to be a farmstead including an old millrace; west side off I-35 just west of today's intersection with US Highway 16 (N/A). It operated outbuildings on Campus until 1935 when Amesbury Ave Annex - which included three buildings: library building (1935), Fine Arts Building (1936), Physical Plant building (1937) - moved into new building across street from Library Annex which had been erected 1909 & 1927 following construction Of Physical Plant wing originally designed by McKnight Bros., Inc.. The original McKnight Bros., Inc.-designed wing still stands south facade of Academic Building facing Campus Drive! In 1938 physical plant wing got split into two parts: one became Fine Arts Wing which housed lecture hall & auditoriums along with studios & offices upstairs while another part became Agricultural Research Wing which housed laboratories & storagerooms below ground level

North Liberty, Iowa is a town in Plymouth County, Iowa, United States. The population was 534 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Des Moines–Hiawatha Metropolitan Statistical Area. North Liberty was laid out in 1854 by George A. Smith and named for the north side of the river on which it lies. The first settlers to North Liberty were those who arrived from Illinois in 1851 and 1852. They were led by Captain John Cramer and his brother-in-law, Daniel Boone. In 1857, Eli Whitney founded the city of Whitneyville adjacent to today's town of North Liberty on land he had purchased from James Ketchum. The settlement grew rapidly and by 1860 there were over 100 people living in North Liberty. By 1870 there were over 200 people living in North Liberty with a school and Post Office established that year. In 1875, Reverend Ezra Stowell organized what would become First Methodist Church in North Liberty along with other churches south of Des Moines during Reconstruction after the American Civil War ended. At its peak membership numbered more than 500 individuals but growth slowed down following World War I due to lack of business opportunities and new technology becoming available outside the agricultural sector However, membership continued to grow until it reached 1,500 individuals by 1928 when prohibition made alcohol illegal throughout much of America. During World War II many residents left for military service because they believed that Prohibition would soon be repealed; however this did not happen as planned and so many Prohibition-era businesses closed that industry quickly lost its lifeblood support base; however some continue to operate today including Spirit BBQ located off US Highway 20 just east of South Main Street (north side). 1 storey high frame building served as post office from1890 until 1971 when mail went through Drake House next door which still stands today as an apartment complex known as "Drake Place". Population decrease due to increased competition from post officeowning families combined with changing lifestyles caused a loss of population share from 97% at peak to only 50% at current rate which has resulted in large empty lots around town center since 2001 while also contributing to small village feel given recent development nearby such as high school & shopping mall within walking distance
