Marshalltown, Iowa is home to the world’s first gourmet coffee shop, The Gourmands Coffee House. Opened in 1872 by four farmers and their families, the store served local and mail order customers alike. In 1951, The Gourmands Coffee House was moved from its original location on Fourth Street to its current site on Seventh Street. Today, The Gourmands Coffee House remains a family-owned business with a fine tradition of excellence in coffee serving locals and visitors throughout the area. The history of gourmet coffee starts with two German immigrants who arrival in 1868 to start a seed company in Marshalltown. In 1901, The Berliner Coffee Company opened anchor at Sixth and State Streets in downtown Marshalltown. At that time, gourmet coffee was still a relatively new concept – only about 10% of all grocery stores sold beans for purchase (today it’s up to 90%). However, over timeBerliner became one of the most successful gourmet coffee companies in America exports increasing from $5 million per year in 1975 to more than $100 million today! In 1951, when The Gourmands Coffee House opened on Seventh Street just east of downtown Marshalltown it was one of the first businesses in town to offer modernized espresso machines as well as drip systems for professional brewers like Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts. And while some smaller businesses continued to serve ground beans until after World War II (e.g., Tony’s Cafe), most began using machine learning processes that had been developed by Schultz at his company Roastery & Coffee club which he started operation at age 24 back in 1966! And so we come full circle: not only does this old-school business continue serving delicious cupcakes and wifi freezers made with organic high quality beans from our own roastery but also an extensive selection of bagels (made fresh every day!), muffins/croissants/waffles/granola bars etc…..We hope you enjoy your visit!

The first commercial coffee beans were grown in Africa in the late 17th century. Coffee was exported to Europe by sea, and early traders noticed that different parts of Africa had different levels of humidity and soil quality when it came to growing coffee. In order to find out what type of beans were being grown in each region, they would send ships ashore with their cargo of cocoa beans to try out different roasts and grinds. Whilethere are multiple theories about how espresso originated (most likely through contact with Ethiopia), onefact remains undisputed: between 1616 and 1622 Giovanni Battista Cappuccino traveled throughout Italy looking for new sources of coffee while working as an ambassador for King Ferdinand II of Naples. While he may not have tasted actual espresso himself, he did spot farmers growing this high-quality crop near Naples. From hereon out, espresso became known as Italian coffee – a name that still applies today! Over time, other countries began to imitate Italian Coffee at home by exporting their own blends back home or importing whole bean Italian coffees from abroad. The Dutch started trading with India in the mid-19th century which led to the discovery of valuable resources like rubber and pepper inside Indonesia; these new trades allowed Java to become one of the most important maritime provinces in Southeast Asia during this period. This wealth also led to Jakarta becoming known as The City Of Spice because so much valuable traded goods passed through its streets! Java also became a center for Islamic learning due to its strategic location between Central Asia and South Asia – providing ample opportunities for scholarsand clerics from both sides To learn about various religious practices! Consequently, Java soon became synonymous with all things Islamic! As such, Indonesian Coffee was often considered one OF THE FIRST COFFEE BREWING AREAS IN THE WORLD!

Marshalltown, Iowa is a city located in Marshall County, Iowa, United States. The population was 7,826 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Marshall County. The first settler in what is now Marshalltown was Hiram Latham in 1839. The city was founded on April 1, 1858 by General James Fenton and his family as the new capital of Marshall County. On December 16, 1861, when Union troops moved into Iowa to take control of all of that state following the Battle of Des Moines (see "To America: A History of the American Civil War"), Marshaltown became the capitol and served as such for six years until it was replaced by Cedar Rapids in 1865. The city's growth during its early years was due to its location on the Mississippi River and its access to trade with other parts of North America. In 1862–1863, when Lincoln issued his Emancipation Proclamation calling for all slaves in Confederate-controlled Arkansas to be freed immediately upon their departure from that state,Marshalltown became one of many southern cities that responded with thanksgiving letters and donations of goods necessary for Reconstruction efforts. By 1870–71, construction had begun on what would become known as "the Great Chicago Fire" – an arson incident which destroyed blocks of buildings in downtown Chicago but which also helped burn down some 4 million dollars worth of property within five miles (8 km) radius including much interestable real estate within town limits). This event helped lead to a decline in downtown business activity throughout most American cities during this time period; however, Marshallstown persevered and re-opened soon after as part-of what would become known as "the rebuilt downtown." During World War II (1941-1945), Marshtown played an important role both domestically and abroad due to its proximity to numerous military installations around Iowa along with its ability to provide housing for returning servicemen and their families once hostilities ceased. One particular project which saw great progress during this time period was the construction of The Goudreau Airfield which opened up adjacent rural areas near town; this airfield played an extremely important role leading up through both World Wars I and II providing employment opportunities for local farmers while also providing cover for bomber aircraft flying over Sioux City during those wars. Additionally, Marshtown also hosted various Army maneuvers/Training events throughout 1945 & 1946 utilizing nearby Dodge City Municipal Airport becoming one such center OF sorts during that time period! In recent decades there has been a trend among many small towns across America towards increasing economic development via gentrification or Anheuser Busch growing presence within smaller communities while maintaining cultural heritage; however no similar trend exists within Marshaltown where heavy industry has taken hold much like it has elsewhere throughout central Iowa since Mayor Tom Dempsey took office in 2009. Despite this fact present day attractions such as The Goudreau Airfield & Dodge City Municipal Airport remain largely unchanged whileheavy industry surrounds town limits making it difficult if not impossible for residents & tourists aliketo experience true local history without leaving town!
