Cedar Falls, Iowa is home to the Cedar Rapids Marine Museum. The museum is dedicated to honoring the history of marine gifts in Cedar Falls and across the United States. Cedar Falls, Iowa is a small town in the northwest corner of Iowa. The population was 941 at the 2010 census. Cedar Falls is located in Blue Earth County on Big Sioux Creek. It is part of the Cedar Rapids-Waterloo metropolitan area. The first people to live in what is now Cedar Falls were the Menominee Indians. In 1812, a group of white men and boys traveling through what is now Illinois founded a trading post near present day Cedar Rapids. In 1828, traders from Great Britain set up an early store here known as the "British Store." The town was named after General David Rice's hometown of Cambridge, England. After being burned by Ulysses S. Grant during the Black Hawk War (1862-1865), settlers began moving into this area and built homes around 1840. One settler, James Larkin, donated land for a Presbyterian church and school which opened in 1840. By 1860, there were more than 100 residents in this community. In 1868, one of Iowa's first electric streetlights was installed in Cedar Falls when it became part of the Burlington Electric Railway system. This led to increased business for local merchants and helped spur development around town including shopping centers, churches and schools that continue to operate today; as well as numerous businesses that have grown since then such as: Verizon Business Park (later Verizon Wireless Corporate Headquarters), Hilton Garden Inn & Suites - Cedar Rapids Downtown/Old Executive Centre and First United Methodist Church - Central Campus

Cedar Falls, IA was founded on November 15, 1846 by a group of Iowa farmers. The town was named after the Cedar River. The first post office in Cedar Falls was established on January 1, 1850. In 1861, the Union Army invaded Iowa and battle ensued between the Union forces and Confederate forces near Cedar Falls. It is said that more than 50 people were killed in this skirmish. The residents of Cedar Falls quickly rallied to support their Union allies and helped to create one of the most powerful armies in the Midwest during the Civil War. After the war, Cedar Falls grew rapidly and reached its peak population size in 1865 with over 10,000 residents. However, as corn prices plummeted in the early 20th century, Meadow Lake began to decline as a center for commerce and industry in central Iowa; many businesses closed within decade of their establishment in Cedar City-Meadow Lake area (eager to take advantage of cheap land). By 1930s attendance at Meadow Lake had decreased from 5200 to 1500 citizens – an all-time low for any community located within 30 miles of Des Moines metropolitan area. Nevertheless, some local businesses continued operations until around 1990 when they closed due to changing trends among small towns across Iowa In recent years there has been discussion about whether or not Cedar Rapids should be considered an international city like Dubai or Singapore because it has seen significant growth both economically and culturally since becoming an international city status under President Barack Obama’s stimulus package which awarded $225 million dollars through grants program called American Recovery & Reinvestment Act (ARRA). This money has allowed restaurants such as Benares Indian Restaurant & Banquet Hall LLC., which opened its doors on October 3rd 2009 with seating for 350 customers inside a renovated building at 424 Main Street which used to be known as “The Gilded Cage”; also new since then is Karma Chop House & Garden Barbecue restaurant at 602 First Avenue South moving into what once was called “Qwikstop” - formerly known as Green Valley Market - footsteps away from where Obama spoke at McCormick Place before his election victory on November 4th 2008 Cedar Rapids is home to several large companies including AIG Financial Services Corporation (), Wells Fargo Bank (), Wachovia Bank (), AT&T Wireless ()) Airlines such as United Airlines () have Base Camp Airport nearby providing services throughout eastern Iowa ()
