In 1970, the company changed its name to Green Mountain Coffee Company and became a mass productionroaster. In 1998, Green Mountain Coffee Company merged with Peet's Coffee Company and became part of Starbucks Corporation.

Ankeny, Iowa is a city in Johnson County, Iowa, United States. The population was 14,898 at the 2010 census. The city was founded in 1847 by farmers from Ankeny and other villages on the Des Moines River. It became a town in 1872. Ankeny is home to the University ofIowa Hospitals and Clinics. The first settler in Ankeny was Levi Coffin, who arrived with his family in 1847. In 1850, John Wirthman settled there and started a flour mill that still operates today as Wirthman & Company. In 1855, Jacob Hoyle moved to Ankeny and opened a grocery store. That same year saw the arrival of James Halliday who set up an oilseed business on Main Street. By 1860, many buildings had been erected on what is now First Avenue west of downtown Ankeny; this area became known as "The Square". In 1870–71, Atherton Gardner built the first schoolhouse in AnKENY when he donated land for one on First Avenue west of downtown. When it closed its doors for good after only six months due to financial difficulties during the Panic of 1893-94 (the Great Sioux War), Gardner reopened it under new management but again failed to make ends meet and closed it within two years.. It reopened as an academy in 1898 with $8000 from local banker George Ewing Hezekiah Biddle (1821-1910). Classes were held at different addresses until 1906 when permanent classrooms were built on Third Street east of town square which remains their current locationToday's UIH campus commenced operations with its initial classes on October 3rd 1909 under auspices of then President Drury Beall (1875-1920)

Ankeny is a small town in Iowa, located on the banks of the Arkansas River. The town was founded in 1854 by John Ankeny and his wife, Sarah. The first settler in Ankeny was Moses Green. The town reached its peak of population during the early 1800s, but then declined until the late 1800s when it began to rise again. In 1902, Ankeny became a city and has since experienced a growth spurt. Today, Ankeny is one of the fastest-growing towns in Iowa. The city of Ankeny was founded on July 6th, 1854 by John Aiken and Sarah Ann Neely with the purpose of establishing trade along the riverbanks between their settlements in Township 12 north and Township 13 south. At that time, there were only two other settlements in Iowa: Cedar Rapids and Waterloo. John Aiken had come from Scotland via Boston University where he had studied law before moving to America to start his own practice at age 25 years old. He soon became successful enough to open an office in Cedar Rapids which he named "Aiken & Son". In later years he leased space from his brother-in-law Amos Eaton so that he could continue practicing law without having to leave his home country – an innovation that quickly made him one of Iowa's most well-known attorneys Sarah Ann Neely came from a prominent family of farmers who resided near Waterloo on the east bank of the Arkansas River. Her parents owned several thousand acres (1 km²) of farmland stretching from Waterloo downriver to what is now Newton County. Mrs. Neely had worked as a maid for her father before coming West to marry him In 1854, when Des Moines & Rock Island Railroad (D&I) completed its line through rural central Iowa reaching Ankeny just over two weeks after incorporation date, this opened up vast new areas for farming including much of present-day Newton County In 1862 when Union General William Tecumseh Sherman advanced into Missouri via Illinois tantamount to war declaration – American counties west of Mobile were placed under military occupation including Newton County which lasted until 1865 Railroad construction continued unabated throughout all these years with D&I investing heavily both financially and physically–a pattern that would continue through much post emancipation American railroading . This type ol investment allowed D&I president James Kappner Jr., son John Kappner Sr., Eliot Nessenhausen and their associates such as George Stephenson IV who would go onto become one major force behind Midwestern railroad development
