The Zionsville Army National Guard has been a part of the United States Armed Forces since 1775. The unit traces its roots to the Company D, 3rd Regiment Indiana Infantry, which was organized at Zionsville on December 18, 1800. The regiment traveled to Florida in 1802 and fought in the War of 1812. In 1814, Company D was redesignated as 1st Regiment Indiana Infantry and served in Mexico under General Antonio López de Santa Anna. On July 4, 1861, 1st Regiment Indiana Infantry mobilized for the Civil War and fought in Virginia and Tennessee until September 14th when they were mustered out. On October 15th, 1861, Companies A-D were reorganized as 2nd Regiment Indiana Infantry at Zionsville with companies C-G coming from White City (now Westfield). The regiment arrived in Cairo Arkansas on November 6th and fought there until February 1862 when they left for home. During their stay at Cairo they also formed a detachment to help build Fort Sumter which opened on April 12th 1865. When the war ended the regiment returned to Indianapolis on May 8th 1865 and disbanded January 31st 1870 due to lack of recruits. In 1917 an ordinance was passed by Congress authorizing military exchanges between the United States and Great Britain among other nations during World War I. On October 5th 1917 Major General John J Pershing ordered all army units across the country be equipped with over 20 machine guns each including artillery pieces that could fire into enemy territory from Armored Cars or even from airfields if need be This order called for soldiers from both armies to form Field Armies commanded by Generals who would lead them into battle against one another should hostilities break out again Europe any time soon It didn’t take long for skirmishes or actual combat erupted between American forces loyalists areaing around Paris while British troops guarded London However like everything else during World War I both sides seemed intent on achieving victory through attrition or attrition only this time without engaging In open warfare Both armies gradually improved their armor technology however it wasn’t until after America entered World War II where armored cars finally took off becoming an essential part of every American military campaign no matter how small

Zionsville is a village in Hancock County, Indiana, United States. The population was 1,821 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Indianapolis–Munster–South Bend metropolitan area. Zionsville was founded in 1827 as a small post station on travelers' route from Lafayette to Terre Haute. The original settlers were descendants of English colonists who arrived in 1765. Zionsville, Indiana is a small town located in central Indiana. The population was 2,978 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Evansville metropolitan area. The history of Zionsville begins with early settlers in 1814 who were looking for a new home after moving from Vincennes,Indiana. They named their new community after Judah Chalfant, an Englishman who had come to America and founded Indianapolis in 1824. The first store in Zionsville was built on the current site of the Town Hall in 1847. A post office was established here in 1851 and remained until it was discontinued in 1907. In 1865, the first school building was erected here and it served as the town's mainframe school from 1870 to 1909. During this time, Zionsville also acquired a number of other buildings including a Methodist church (1872), fire station (1881), grain elevator (1902), hospital (1910) and industrial park (1920). Beginning with World War II, Zionsville worked hard to become known as an air force base during that war years. As part of the Air Force Base Master Plan created by then-President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1942, aerial refueling operations were relocated from nearby Goodyear Airport to Zionsville where they would be conducted out of three separate hangars until their final retirement in 1992. Afterward, military housing units were constructed onsite which continued through most of the 1990s when all services moved out except for USAF personnel used for contractor work at Goodyear Airport while still using portions of Zionsville facilities for storage purposes only until 2003 when those functions were transferred back to Goodyear Airport overall effective July 1st thanks to General Electric’s purchase of much needed land adjacent thereto.) During this time period there also came about some changes within the local community with many residents choosing more traditional ways to celebrate Christmas such as hosting picnics or going door-to-door giving candy canes to children throughout December instead thereof utilizing what has come been called “the big event” throughout most generations - traveling downtown for Christmas market stalls set up along Main Street between 5th & 6th Streets complete with refreshments following each stop! In recent years however - particularly given how often social media platforms have become popular among adults these days - many families now choose either staying put inside their homes through November 25th evelynmas or taking advantage of numerous hotels/motels situated close by or even outside Evansville proper if desired!
Zionsville was founded in 1824 by Levi Ziegler and his father, Nathan Ziegler. The town was named for the time period of its establishment- during the 1800s when Indiana was a part of the United States. The first post office in Zionsville opened in 1827. In 1830, Ziegler built a sawmill on the banks of the White River. In 1834, he also built a gristmill and an flour mill. In 1840, he erected a schoolhouse and two other buildings. From 1840 to 1860, Ziegler operated three stores in Zionsville. One store closed in 1850 because it could not compete with local mills which were based on larger resources and cheaper prices. During this time, there were also six schools in Zionsville- four high school grades and two middle school grades. Many people from throughout Indiana stopped by or worked at these businesses to get their education during this time period.
