Westfield is an unincorporated community in Kosciusko County, Indiana, United States. The population was 1,821 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Decatur–Normal Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area now known as Westfield was laid out by surveyors in 1836 and named after Colonel John Westfield of Kentucky. The first post office was established at Westfield in 1851, and the first store was built there in 1865. A new store and courthouse were built there in 1903. In 1924, a branch of the Indianapolis & Bloomington Railroad crossed through Westfield from East to West; this made it possible for farmers to sell their goods directly to consumers rather than having them transported miles away to be sold by railroads. The community's growth continued until 1957 when it merged with nearby Noblesville to form the current town of Noblesville–Westfield.

Westfield, Indiana is one of the most populous cities in the United States. It located in central Indiana on the Ohio River. The city was founded by a group of English settlers in 1814 and rapidly grew due to its location, good transportation infrastructure, and ample natural resources. In 1927, Westfield became the capital of Indiana. The city has since undergone numerous redevelopment efforts which have made it an ever-growing metropolis with significant cultural significance. The history of Westfield began with a small village called Westfield Junction on the banks of the Ohio River. On July 6, 1814, a group of English settlers led by Captain John Smith arrived at Westfield Junction and set up camp for the winter. After months of hard work they built their first log cabin and named their settlement after themselves – “Westfield”. Over time, more settlers arrived and soon enough there were over 50 buildings in town! By 1830, Westfield had become a thriving community with stores, churches, schools, taverns and other public institutions. In 1827, when George Rogers Clark developed what would later become Indianapolis (then known as Fenton), he decided that his new city should be the capital of Indiana because it was an important trading post on the west bank of the river where trade took place between Canada and Mexico City! At this point however remote Fort Wayne was still considered to be central to Indian Territory (now parts Illinois andIndiana). Accordingly on October 11th President James Kahl signed legislation creating Fort Wayne as its temporary capital until Indianapolis could be rebuilt! This act also provided for exclusive territorial rights to build canals through what is now downtown Indianapolis so that raw materials from surrounding counties could be transported efficiently to central City! Despite being served by only two mail coaches per day at best during its early years Fort Wayne struggled to keep up with growing population levels; nonetheless on May 1st 1840 Governor Mattawa granted exclusive territorial rights for construction of railways withinIndian Territory !! This gave developers like General David Dixon control over all land east of Decatur Road which included much property now occupied by Downtown Indy including much valuable real estate near Wrigley Field! With this new power came opportunity as well as serious competition from rival towns like Terre Haute (founded in 1834) or even Rockville Centre (established in 1865)! Nevertheless during these years Fort Wayne managed to remain vibrant despite difficult times; indeed according to one contemporary report “No reliable history exists…of any campaign or enterprise against [Fort] Wayne save that waged by General Dixon himself” In fact many historians credit Dixon's competitiveness with helping contribute greatly to development trends seen today within Downtown Indy such as high-rise apartment complexes/ tower developments etc.? Indeed during these tough times Fort Wayne did manage some impressive feats such as becoming one America's fastest-growing town period!! However unfortunately throughout all these years no one seemedto have realized just how big FtWichita actually was?? And so although during this golden age FtWichita saw some great things happen such as growth rates outpacing those achieved anywhere else in Indian Territory...the really big news happened when Greenback Party candidate Abraham Lincoln won election November 4th 1860!!! Suddenly everything changed….. amazingly given that no one living inside Louisville at that time could even vote !! So here we are 68 years later……………………….almost four full decades since Ford Motor Company moved their operations out east into Dearborn County!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Westfield is a city in the U.S. state of Indiana, located on the west side of Indianapolis. The population was 54,569 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Evansville–Lafayette metropolitan area. The first permanent settler in what would become Westfield was Nicholas Merrill, who arrived in 1814 at what is now its eastern border. Merrill built a log cabin on his farm and soon began to trade with other settlers in this part of Indiana Territory." A post office called Westfield was established in 1825, and remained open until it was discontinued in 1906. In 1836, John Stephenson purchased land east of present-day Meridian Street and developed it into what would become downtown Indianapolis; Stephenson named his new business "New Hope". The construction of the first Northwest Railroad through central Indiana began nearabouts this time, providing transportation for goods from farmers to industrialists and consumers throughout southern Indiana andwestward to Louisville, Kentucky; by 1840 much of central Indiana had been developed as downtown Indianapolis grew larger than nearby Lafayette or Terre Haute. The original Main Street Bridge across the Monon River was completed in 1845; it still exists today as one of downtown Indy's most prominent landmarks."
