Westfield is a city in West Virginia, United States. The population was 9,890 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Marshall County. The town of Westfield was founded in 1800 by Nicholas Green and others as a small trading post on the Ohio River. In 1814, it became known as "the Athenaeum" after its location near Athens, Georgia.
