The Warsaw, Indiana Coast Guard Station has been providing service to the community since 1912. The station was part of the original force that helped secure the port during World War I. In 1947, the station was renamed in honor of Admiral John H. McCain and it continues to serve as a vital part of the community’sresponse system today. The Station is home to a variety of auxiliary programs, including Search and Rescue, Life Saving Operations, and Marine Patrol. Auxiliary services are essential for keeping our community safe and accessible when weather conditions warrant it. Warsaw, Indiana is a town in Muskegon County, Michigan, United States. The population was 5,816 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lansing–Muskegon–Oakland, MI Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first European settlers in Warsaw were Frenchmen and Swedes who founded a trading post on the Muskegon River in 1795. The post was abandoned by 1812 because of Indian attacks. Polish settlers from Kraków started arriving in 1814 and built a log cabin near present-day Warsaw. In 1828, they founded their own town and named it Warsaw after their capital city in Poland. They soon outgrew Warsaw and merged with other settlements to form the current town of Muskegon Heights in 1830. In 1861, residents of Warsaw voted to secede from Muskegon County and form its own government under the laws of Congress called the Harrison Act. The new municipality adopted a name chosen by members—Warsaw—referring to their hopes that national attention would bring prosperity to their community while also underscoring its close connection to Kraków (the capital city at the time). When World War I began in 1914, many Polish Americans served in military units throughout Europe as volunteers orKitchener's New Canadians. Most returned home before hostilities ended but some stayed until 1919 when Germany took over Poland; most Poles left then tooexcept for a few thousand who remained until 1945 when East Prussia became part of Nazi Germany

Warsaw, Indiana was a small town in the U.S. state of Indiana from 1814 to 1868. It was located at the confluence of the Clear and White rivers, about 20 miles (32 km) east of Indianapolis and 60 miles (100 km) west of Chicago. Warsaw was named for General Stanislaus Ksawery Jaruzelski, who helped lead Poland into independence from Russia in 1793. In 1814, Warsaw was founded by Polish settlers led by Pierre Senechal and Joseph Ducharmey. The town had a population of just over 100 people when it became part of central Indiana Territory on July 1, 1816. In 1840, Warsaw became an incorporated village under the name Warsaw Township. On December 3, 1854, it renamed itself Warsaw again after becoming one of the United States' 38th states within its first national government. The post office at Warsaw opened on October 4, 1861; it continued operations until it was discontinued on June 28, 1907. The first store in Warsaw opened on November 15, 1865; it continued operation until May 6, 1911. The first school in Warsaw opened on September 12th 1870; it operated until June 30th 1904 when it closed due to lack of funding but remained open as a museum until 1984 when it closed permanently due to financial issues with its building which is now used as a library
