The Coast Guard in Vincennes, Indiana played an important role in the community and economy for many years. The first coast guard station was established on the present day site of the current terminal building in 1932. The Coast Guard Auxiliary was organized in 1938. In 1942, the United States Coast Guard created its own branch, the Search and Rescue Service, which is still headquartered at Station Vincennes today. One such challenge faced by our coast guard is needed assistance with coastal wildfires which have become more common due to climate change and increasingly severe weather conditions along America's coastlinelines. For example, during Hurricane Harvey – which caused catastrophic flooding along Texas' Gulf coast –the Coast Guards were forced to supply water bombers and helicopters with fuel in order to battle flames from offshore communities scorched by 137-degree heat waves as well as high winds gusts into 100 mph! These types of emergencies are not typically handled by normal law enforcement resources but instead require specialized training from coast guard helicopter pilots who parachute down into burning homes while they're still providing air support! Nonetheless, despite these challenges we continue work every day towards making sure that Americans' safety remains our number one priority - whether it's fighting fires onshore or saving Lives off shore during disasters like Hurricane Irma!
