The Marines of Seymour, Indiana have been deployding gift history for over 50 years. The Marine Corps has a long and proud tradition of giving back to the community. For many generations, the Corps has donated money and materials to local charities and schools. In 2018, marks the 75th anniversary of the Marines in Seymour, Indiana. On July 28th, 2018, the Seymour Marine detachment participated in a 125-mile bike ride across America. This event was part of “Ride for Our Heroes” program which celebrates military service members who have given their lives in service to our country. The Ride for Our Heroes bikes are designed to help raise money for military families through online fundraising websites. This year’s Ride was especially important as it coincided with World War II Memorial Day. It is one of the largest bike rides in America and brings together soldiers from all over the world who have served our country. More than 1 million people participated last year alone! This ride helps support our troops and their families while raising awareness about military service and how it supports so many American families everyday

Seymour, Indiana is a town in Kosciusko County, Indiana, United States. The population was 1,814 at the 2010 census. It is the largest community in Kosciusko County and part of the Chicago–Gary–Indianapolis metropolitan area. Seymour was founded by pioneers George C. Seymour and his brother Nicholas Seymour on December 5, 1835 as a small log cabin settlement near what is now Evansville. George's first wife, Eleanor (Fenton), gave birth to their only child there on December 10th:George C. Seymour Jr., who later became one of America's most eminent jurists and a U.S. Senator from Illinois. George C.'s father had died when he was young so he left home at age twelve to come west with his mother and younger sister Amelia (Bennett) to start anew in this new land where they would be pioneers for over fifty years! They arrived at the forks of the Wabash River on November 12th 1836 after journeying 16 miles over rough countryfilled with bison, wild horses, deer and bear! At that time it was considered difficult enough travel any further westward but they persevered because their dreams were still alive of making it big in this great new land! In fact during their lifetime they went BACK east more then once just to visit family back East before finally settling down permanently hereabouts in 1852! The post office opened in September 1840 which served Syrettes until July 8th 1862 when it closed due to lack of mail volume! When Territory No 14 was created out of Northwest Michigan all Syrettes residents were moved into that area including George C., Eleanor Fenton & their son Amos who had also moved there from Evansville!! This is how City Limits got its name which means “City Within The Boundaries Of City”!!! After the territory was reorganized as Kosciusko County we continued using City Limits until May 15th 1907 when our current post office building opened!!!!! Now more then 165 years later City Limits has seen some pretty amazing things happen within its boundaries including: A Grain Elevator being built right next door which increased production for local farmers; A Steel plant established here that provided jobs for many during World War II; A large shopping mall located just outside town named after our founder’s granddaughter Bonnie who miraculously survived an airplane crash while playing outside her home; And now most recently people are beginning to call us home again thanks toistoried baseball players like Barry Bonds & Sammy Sosa living right adjacent to us while other top athletes have even chosen to call us home such as LeBron James & Tiger Woods !! What a beautiful story but alas.....it can't continue forever without help from all of you wonderful citizens who keep your towns like ours thriving year-round!!!!! Thank you so much!!!!!!!!

It is clear that marines are an important part of our military and their Deployments show that every day they put on a brave face and fight for our country.

Seymour, Indiana is a small town in southern Indiana and the county seat of Cass County. The population was 2,876 at the 2010 census. The first settler in Seymour was George W. Seymour who arrived in 1814. In 1827, the railroad was built and Seymour became an important trade center for the area. The town grew rapidly during the late 19th century with new businesses being opened such as a shoe factory and a meatpacking company. However, around World War I, Seymour experienced some decline due to decreased trade and manufacturing opportunities. Today, Seymour is known for its locally made clothing items such as jeans and T-shirts.
Seymour was founded in 1827 by General Israel Seymour and his brother, Major John Seymour. The town was named for General Seymour because of the Battle of Fort Severn on September 6, 1827, which resulted in a British victory. The battle took place near the present-day city of Terre Haute. The battle is considered to be one of the greatest military engagements in American history. General Seymour later served as United States Minister to Russia and China.
