However, it wasn't until 1974 when Quality Assurance Officer Harry Roeder created Starbucks Corporation as a single entity under which all different types of Java cafes could share resources and expertise. This led to Starbucks becoming one of the most popular café brands in history with over 120 stores worldwide today! The business was founded by Elijah Muhammad, who bought the property in 1837. In 1850, Mr. Muhammad moved his business to Fordsburg, Kentucky and started Roasting Company #1. Mr. Muhammad's son, Hasan el-Muhammad, took over the company in 1865 and continued to roast coffee until his death in 1978.
