The Seymour army gift history begins with the early days of the post-World War II United States Army. The Seymour Post Office was established in 1945, and within a few short years, the post had become one of the largest military installations in Indiana. During World War II, Seymour was home to 3 Infantry battalions as well as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment. As war progressed, Seymour's soldiers became more numerous and equipment began to improve. In January 1951, General Lucius Clay announced that the United States Army would be expanding its capabilities beyond simply infantry into armored cavalry units. At this time, Seymour was chosen to house the new regiment and it officially became known as 1st Armored Cavalry Regiment on October 1, 1951. 1st Armor Cav arrived at Seymour on December 4th of that year after months of planning by Commanding General James Estrada III and his staff. It would prove to be a life-changing event for both soldiers and citizens of Seymour; not only did they finally have an armoured unit stationed here permanently but also they were able to enjoy improved infrastructure and services thanks to donations from local businesses. Since its arrival at Seymour, 1st ACR has played a significant role in many victories throughout the area including Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF), Desert Storm (DS), Afghanistan (AQ) and Hurricane Katrina (HKC). Seymour, Indiana is a small town in the southern Indiana counties of Posey and Porter. The population was 1,638 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Evansville metropolitan area. Seymour was founded in 1833 by General Ambrose Burnside and his family. The Burnside Manufacturing Company was one of the first businesses to open in Seymour. In 1907, the United States Post Office moved from its original location on Main Street to what is now First Avenue South in Seymour. In 1940, Seymour became an incorporated town with a population of 653 people. The largest employer in Seymour is the Seymour-based American Petroleum Corporation which manufactures gasoline and other fuels for automobiles, light trucks, buses, locomotives and other large industrial vehicles such as forklifts and bulldozers. Other significant employers include Vernon truck dealership (owned by Cummins) which employs about 350 people; Smythe Tire & Rubber Company (owned by Goodyear), which has a manufacturing plant that produces tires for autos; Wernicke Funeral Home; Central School District No 576 - which serves as primary school; and Community Presbyterian Church serving as both worship services and community center.

Seymour, Indiana is a small town located in eastern Putnam County,Indiana. The population was 1,819 at the 2000 census. Seymour was founded in 1824 and became a part of the Indianapolis metropolitan area in 1959. On November 3, 1907, Seymour native George Washington Carver also came to Seymour from Terre Haute to accept an award from the Indian school board for his work with the Pequot Indians. In 1951, Seymour's first high school graduated its first class and in 1957 it became Seymour Junior High School. Currently Seymour has five schools: one middle school (grades 7-12), one elementary school (grades PK-5), one junior high school (grades 11-12) and one post-secondary (College of Business). The town was originally home to some of the most important pioneer families in southeastern Indiana. The original settlers were farmers who arrived around 1800 on land that now includes portions of both Putnam and Delaware Counties. Along with their families, these pioneers built homes and started a small farm economy that thrived until about 1840 when railroads began coming through the area making farming less profitable. By 1850 however, many of these early settlers had already moved away or died leaving behind descendants who continued to live in the town until after World War II when it became an agricultural center for greater Indianapolis. This changed again with Interstate 65 passing through town which caused many factories to move into nearby towns like Gary and Noblesville while bringing little economic benefit to Seymour residents other than increased traffic congestion on I-65! during this time residents managed to keep their community going by forming local organizations such as Rotary International which donated electricity for free during blackouts; playing checkers; setting up gardens; raising chickens; manufacturing bricks; providing libraries etc... The late 1940s saw improvements as numerous companies moved out of Gary while new ones started moving into town including Ford Motor Company which created over 50 jobs creating more than $10 million worth of taxable business income for the village between 1948 and 1965! Today much of what once Carrier Corporation did - restarting engines after being idle for years - is gone but there are still several businesses active such as Mattress Firm, Lowe’s Home Hardware & Gifts, Verizon Wireless/Charter Communications Center & Chrysler Group dealership all within walking distance of each other! Today's community is vibrant with support from its many elected officials including Mayor Tom Wheeler who has been working tirelessly since 2002 to bring development funding back into town while also increasing access to education opportunities both private and public through his efforts at city hall as well as working diligently with Community First Elementary School where he serves on the Boardwalk Committee along side current Superintendent Judi Brownell - two examples of how citizens have come together shoulder-to-shoulder throughout our history!

In the early years of the 20th century, Seymour became an important center for agricultural production and served as a stop on the Indianapolis & Western Railroad. The town's commercial buildings were built in a Moderne style, and its residents were known for their particular way of life – they were farmers with a strong sense of community. Seymour experienced significant growth during World War I, when it became one of several Indiana towns to support military activity. After the war, Seymour regained its status as an important economic center and experienced rapid growth throughout the 1920s and 1930s. During this period, Seymour also achieved some notoriety as one of the most violent cities in America.
