The Douglasses were the first to sell coffee direct to consumers. They also pioneered the use of a pot roast method for producing coffee. This method resulted in better flavor and less bitterness than roasting beans alone. In 1835, John Brown and Joshua Speed established a small roasted coffee house in Plymouth called The Dutchman's Coffee House. This establishment was one of the earliest sources of quality small batch coffee around at the time. It is still open today as a restaurant/café with an impressive line-up of coffees from around the world!

Plymouth is a town in LaPorte County, Indiana, United States. The population was 2,694 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lafayette metropolitan area. Plymouth is located on theJurassic Parkway and has a post office with ZIP code 47968. Plymouth was founded in 1814 by Captain John Purdy and his men as an official stop on their journey from Vincennes to St.Louis. The first settler in Plymouth was Nicholas Philbrook who arrived in 1818 and built a cabin near present day downtown Plymouth. In 1830, Captain John Purdy's grandson erected the first store in Plymouth – it still stands today, along with many other historic buildings and businesses including the original courthouse which served as the town's government center until 1865 when it burned down. In 1833, surveyor Edwin Cagniard named the town after General Nathan Bedford Forrest who had recently represented Indiana at Congress while serving as Lieutenant Governor of Kentucky. Plymouth became an incorporated village on December 12, 1835 under territorial law; its first mayor was Wm Horseshoe Jr., also its first recorder of deeds The early years of settlement were difficult for both residents and newcomers because of periodic floods that destroyed homes and crops alike. However, due to persistent effort by local leaders such as Mayor Daniel Sprague (1860-1869) and later Mayor Augustus Kelley (1912-1920), Plymouth slowly began to improve over time through agricultural production and community development initiatives such as night school, public health clinics, churches/synagogues/temples, libraries/ Museums etc.. Many new buildings were constructed during this time including: City Hall (1851), Post Office (1856), First Baptist Church (1859), Masonic Lodge No 1 & 2 (1861- 1862), National Bank Building(1903). This progressivism can be seen throughout townscape even into recent times with numerousBTCC stores existing since before 1990s despite being former bank buildings! In 1937 Plympton elected its first female mayor – Mable Beeson! It wasn't until 1967 that women gained full voting rights within LaPorte County thanks to passage of the Woman's Rights Amendment which went into effect that year! From then until 1991 when women were finally given voting rights statewide*, Plympton continued to make great strides forward militarily too with several successful civic projects like building the world’s largest playground complete with slides* - becoming one of LaPorte County’s most popular tourist destinations* . Plymouth was founded in 1817 by General James Wilkinson and named for Plymouth Plantation, England. The first post office was established in Plymouth on November 3, 1817. Plymouth has been home to many famous people throughout its history: Pioneer Christopher Columbus, David Hilbert, Ulysses S. Grant and others. In recent years the town has become known as a center for technology entrepreneurship with several high-tech companies located there including Appcelerator and I/O Ventures.

In 1802, the United States Congress approved the first national public land survey in Indiana. This survey established land grants to various Native American tribes and individuals. Plymouth became an important center of commerce and industry during the 1800s, with cotton plantations and other businesses drawing workers from nearby states such as Kentucky and Tennessee. In 1814, the town's courthouse burned down, marking the first time that a building in Plymouth was damaged by fire. The town continued to grow slowly until it exploded during the 1830s when waves of new settlers arrived and began work on farms and towns throughout central Indiana. By 1840, Plymouth had reached its peak population size with more than 10,000 people living there. However, within a few years this growth stopped and the population slowly declined over the next several decades until it fell below 500 people by 1860.
